Sorry! Yet another towbar electrics question.......

Featured Replies

I have 2009 vrs estate.

I need to fit a trailing socket in the boot to power a light board for a tailgate mounted bike rack.

Presumably I don't need a VSK and can just wire in a conventional 7 pin socket?

I am aware of the issues with this type of bike rack but a full tow bar fit is out the question-for the moment.

I did a forum search but couldn't find anything like my request.

There should be no probs in just fitting a 7 pin or 13 pin socket for a trailer either inside or outside for your bike rack,if fitting it outside you would have to find a way of fixing it just under the bumper, with the car having a CAN bus you might be better fitting a bypass relay TEB7AS which takes the extra loading off the cars wiring, you just have to supply the unit with pos 12v. cheers Stuart

Well done mate for being sensible.

The amount of cars I see on the roads with bike racks and a couple of bikes strapped on that are partially or completely obscuring the rear lights and number plate is unbelievable.
