Autohold

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just getting to grips with my new Superb, Autohold feature, is it possible to permanantly enable this feature?

Thanks!

Yep it should be permanently enabled when you choose it to be on (via the button next to the Handbrake switch). And permanently disabled when you switch it off. The memory stores even after turning off the ignition etc.

To that effect, with Autohold permanently on... I've had the car over a month and have still to date not once pressed/pulled the Handbrake switch! Love the automatic application...

Im coming from an Automatic so my clutch control and hill starts are a bit rubbish :) need all the help I can get at the mo.

+1 for the Autohold feature. Particularly handy when start-stop is engaged.

The only time I use the handbrake is when I know I'm going to be sat at lights for any length of time - this then switches off the rear brake lights.

Just a dab of the accelerator and it disengages.

Great feature, love it!

+1 on the Auto Hold love-in. Like coops above, I only use the hand brake if sitting for any length of time.

Just to clarify: The Autohold needs to be switched on (or off) a few times before it defaults to the opposite setting (default is off from new).

It took a couple of days of switching it on before mine auto-enabled, long enough to embarrass myself by contacting the dealer and asking how to default it to "on".

I flick the handbrake on, especially at night, to stop frying eyeballs with the brake lights.

Strange. Before the Superb 3 was even available there were people on this forum decrying the electronic handbrake. I haven't read a single criticism since!

Had it on a couple of cars and love it. Much easier - particularly for the little lady - than yanking a bl@@dy great handle. Her only complaint was there was nothing to hook her handbag on!!

According to the manual, the auto hold will hold the car for up to 10 minutes each time before the parking brake is engaged.

I'll admit I am a convert to the electronic parking brake. I've had a few hire cars in the past where the electronic system was a bit rubbish (I'm looking at you, Vauxhall Insignia!), It kinda puts you off after that.

I find the car as a whole far easier to use than my S2 SE Combi. The electronic handbrake and auto hold are great.

I'm loving the auto hold / auto parking brake too. I've got so used to it I moved my wife's car and put it in park and wondered why it rolled a little when I took my foot off the brake. Needed to do the handbrake myself for a change.

Yep can't wait for my S3.

The handbrake on my present S2 is one of my few niggles on the car.

Having to constantly move the centre armrest back and forth when applying and releasing.
