Another oddity with the MFD display

Featured Replies

On the display there is a current speed which shows speed in kph. Useful I guess if you often drive on the continent, but otherwise a waste of space/distraction.

According to the manual there is an option to turn this on/off via the MFD settings menu.

There should be an "Alt dis" option in the list between "Units" and "Service"

It is not there!!

There might also be a setting "Coasting" for vehicles with DSG - which we have - but that is also absent. Possibly model/country dependent?

Any ideas?

Possibly model/country dependent?

Bingo!  Also age-related as things get modified and updated in the software.

You can get it modified to show mph instead of km/h by VCDS (a search of the forum will reveal lots about this).

Apparently the VCDS mod isn't doable on the latest cars.

This KPH display really ground my gears when I first got the car almost a year ago, but I must admit that whilst it used to stand out like a dogs what's its I no longer notice it.

Put simply, it's the law:

"The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986

Every motor vehicle shall be fitted with a speedometer which, if the vehicle is first used on or after 1st April 1984, shall be capable of indicating speed in both miles per hour and kilometres per hour"

OK that explains it. Usually of course it is done by having dual calibration of the main speedo.

To overcome that why don't SUK install a quality conversion like this? (!)

Then they could enable the MPH in Maxidot.....

The key is capable of. If it has an option to enable/hide it still satisfies the criteria.

You used to be able to change the region of the instrument cluster which would give you this option in maxidot, however, an earlier poster suggests this is no longer possible on the new cars.

I tend to change the units when in Europe as well so odometer and satnav are in km.

They're being snapped up. 4 sold now! You couldn't make it up... Lol

Wow! maybe I should get my old Brother labeller out of the cupboard!

How about the old Dymotape?

Classy!

Surely it's a joke.

Looking at the feedback it looks like he's sold a few of those 'kits' over the past year. And I thought maybe it was a windup, but I guess not.

This discussion has been going on since the Yeti first surfaced. I was a bit surprised when I saw mine for the first time as I had been driving a Roomster 3 which had dual markings on the speedo. Simples!
