Tesla Model 3 pre-ordering

Featured Replies

I see solid state batteries as another threat to the resale of an expensive Tesla and it’s ‘wet’ equivalent.

There is always going to be a good reason to wait with this disruptive development.

  • With 22 pages of thread to read through, I must confess I haven’t bothered BUT have actually now had a test drive of a Model 3 and thought I’d share the impressions here.   As a background,

  • I got quite angry about the luxury car tax thing yesterday morning and cancelled. If they can bring a version in under that 40k threshold I might jump back in. Keeping an eye on the VW ID too.

I'm waiting for the variant with the fusion reactor....

Actually, when I did the milk rounds, the floats kept their value well. Not unusual then to see 25 yr old floats changing hands at more than 50% of new. Required new lead acid batteries every 2 to 3 years, that's where most of the value was.

I gather the shorts have lost approx$1 billion this year but are thought to be up $.75B'  on the year to date,   either high rollers or someone with a lot more to loose (nothing to do with big oil I'm sure )

Strangely, in Australia we here more news about charging infrastructure than about EVs which is very encouraging for those tempted to wait for the arrival of the 3/Leaf/Kona/VWs et al.

Europe Model 3 are getting CCS charging ports, and Tesla Superchargers are getting CCS plugs.

This is huge. It makes the Model 3 most compatible car in Europe with best access to rapid+ charging.

.....and an adapter for the others -

model 3 available to view (only) in UK from tomorrow

I don’t know how they are going to keep customers waiting with such demand ramping up and production rates so low for a manufacturer.

where?

Saw an article earlier saying the 3 is going to cost around £65k at launch. That's way more than the £35k that was originally banded about. Supposed to be an EV for the masses...

Nope, starts at £50k before subsidy.

They are launching with higher performance models with cheaper ones to follow.

It makes sense. If you can only produce a certain number of cars a week, you may as well sell the most expensive ones.
