Different Dash / Drivers Display ?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Right I'm looking to purchase a MK II Octavia 1.9tdi ... and have seen a couple that I have got my eyes on.

The first is an 07 Reg, Elegance Spec and this one has the black, inverse (full length) display module.  MFD or MaxiDot ... I think it's called ..

The other is an 57 Reg, again Elegance Spec, and this one has the more basic, LCD (1/2 length) display module ...

Any idea's why they are different modules, but same year ?  Any advantages over the higher spec (MFD / Maxi Dot) one ?  Must admit it looks better, and more functional, but is that a good thing :)

I'm assuming what was installed was dependent on what the original purchaser specified or paid for ?

Thanks

Mark

If it's the only thing between the two, I'd go maxidot. I'd love it for mine and am depserate to retrofit it, but the petrol maxidot is really rare to ahold of.  It was an option extra so some cars will have it, others won't.

It will allow you more control over the computer, and some basic settings can be altered with it. It may also have the better steering column board (I forget its name - SCC?) which would be handy for other future retrofits.

I'm not too sure but I think about that age that the maxidot display was an optional extra on the Elegance spec. You will know for sure if you have it as a pictograph of a car showing which door is open will show when you have one open. The basic display only has a warning light. The big advantage of the maxidot is that it allows you to change certain settings in the car depending on what is specified, otherwise it is a case of finding a dealer or a friendly member on here who lives close.

Thanks for the prompt replies guys ..

It's defintely a Maxidot display, having Googled it.  Quite tempted too, as it seems a lot more informative compared to the basic module.

Cheers

Any excuse to post my picture!  :D

Maxidot is rather nice feature but actually it's possible to live without it. There are people that aren't interested in many buttons their cars have and maxidot isn't interesting for them either.

But if these cars are similar and price is more or less the same then you could buy one with maxidot.

I had Maxidot retrofitted to my car. I prefer the look of the maxidot cluster.

I do have a question about the maxidot though, Some people have a lighting option under the settings menu, I don't however. Is this due to having a different body control module on my car?

I have an Ambiente.

Thanks Mike! That explains a lot!

How much did it cost you to swap from lowline to highline central convenience module?

Thanks Mike. I'll PM you in the eventuality I get a high line CCM!
