What annoys you most on the Fabia?

Featured Replies

I think the only reason that extra speed reading is actually there at all is because there is no KPH markings on the normal speedo. They just had to put the KPH readout somewhere and I guess thats why they felt there was no reason to let you change it.

  • Most annoying thing about the Mk.3 for me is the lack of a Vrs model with the 1.8 polo gti engine fitted.

  • Apart from the oil consumption, my main first world problem is the fan speed dial for the climate control: you turn it, nothing happens: you turn it a little more, and suddenly you're up to four notch

  • Everytime I sit it my fabia vRS I can't stop shaking my head why quite a few members on here have got rid and moved on [emoji12]

The only thing that annoys me is that no one has bought it yet.

I love the car, just don't use it much anymore as I'm no longer commuting.

Yeah on the maxidot screen, if VCDS free software or VAG garage only?

Not free. Its a few hundred quid, but a local VAG specialist or someone nearby should do it for a few quid

Yeah since Xmas. Only put it up on Gumtree, Motors and here. Few interested but all ended up being to far away to travel to come have a look.

Same here, mk2 vRS...

Most of my annoying niggles were sorted with the carista app,

1 - Two clicks to unlock all doors, With carista its now one click lock/unlock (But now locks when driven and unlocks with key removed form ignition)

2 - Seatbelt chime

3 - Its cold alarm at 4c I either jump out of my skin or wonder where my diesels gone

4 - Slightly rocky engine mount, Need to fix that

I tried all that but can't for the life of me figure out how to get MPH showing, I've set the language to Aus and enabled the alt. speed setting and it still doesn't appear :(

You need the following settings to get the Large MPH on Maxidot. (See image) And in the Maxidot itself don't enable alt.speed, if you do MPH will disappear.

Just remembered my other pet peeve why does the little speed indicator show in KMH and not MPH!!!, been right through the settings and couldn't find anywhere to change it!

Because some us spend time in countries where the speed  limits are in KMH and that is the only indication of KMH, shall be in the Cost Del Sol for May / June . Would prefer KDM marked on Speedo. Can use sat nav for KPH on open roads but need it on Nav in towns.  As to topic I use to tow a caravan with a Superb caravan now gone have a Fabia and have no issues that really annoy me . After driving it from one end of Spain to the other I may have a different view.

My Greenline II Estate has Discs all round!!

My VRS does too.

Getting back on topic:

Rear brakes are drums on all but the VRS.

Disks all round on mine

Disks all round on mine

But according to your profile yours is a VRS.

Because it is a VRS. A 2013 VRS. It has disks all round.

And he said all have drums bar the vRS, so that's what he was getting at.

Yes, this. Anyway, point being I don;t get why the others don't get them too, and this isn't just Fabias, this is just about every car nowadays to be honest, they are all capable of the speeds to require god brakes yet we don't get them.

You're right. Miss read that.

Not sure I got that, does your car have disks and is it a vRS?

Edited by newbie69

As posted by a member with a Greenline. They can have rear discs, so it is not only vRS Fabia that had. Not that the make any difference really to the car stopping, or the hand brake, they can both types stick

To use carista do I just download the app and get an ODBII dongle?

Yes, get the dongle and then download the app. The app you download is free and can be used to check the changes you can make to your vehicle. If you are happy you can then purchase the full version and make the required changes.

I'm sure there is a thread about it all.

EDIT here is the thread Carista App.

Yep as @jonro2009 paid version is about £16 but worth it imo for the changes I made can also change the digital kph/mph readout ive kept mine on kph for when I go to france, Plus I got needle sweep on start up which makes me grin like a kid  :D

Also its touch n go with ebay dongles bought two that wouldnt work with carista so bought caristas own dongle (was on offer) and sold it on when I made the changes I wanted

Don't know why everyone is so hard on the rear drum set up.

Going by the mk1 setup of rear calipers and discs your better off with the drums anyways.

Can do better handbrake turns with drums aswell.......
