Using VAG COM TO GET POWER READINGS

Featured Replies

Is it possible to use Vag Com to read power outputs? I want to get an idea of my cars BHP - thought you could use VAG SCOPE for it. Can anyone tell me if you can and how to do it, if its possible that is.

Will

The attached spreadsheet gives one procedure for deriving power figures from Vag-Com data. I've never got it to work very well, largely because you need a very long flat road to do the coastdown test.

A rolling road will have fewer errors in it than this procedure IMHO.

(I think somebody on Briskoda published this spreadsheet - if so, thanks. The Ross-Tech site may have others).

Basically, you need to log block 120 to get the ASR's torque reading. From this and the rpm (logged automatically with block 120) you can calculate the power.

However, there is no actual law that relates rpm and torque to the actual power so take it with a large pinch of salt.

www.seatcupra.net has a great VAG-COM section with loads of people that have done this.

Done use it to calculate the power/torque of your car, thats what a rolling road is for - its more useful for comparing before/after mods etc.

Here is a little example:

If its a diesel use block 20.
