Did not see this garage in your post  on the review site

Re reporting it to trading standards - they may well not take action on a single complaint. That's another good reason to report it. If everyone has that attitude, they will never obtain the complaints needed to justify investigation. If you report your suspicions they will be logged and go towards building a case to justify further investigation.

Caveat Emptor - always thought it was Latin, didn't realise it's Ancient Greek. Every day a 'school day'.

Building a case is important.

Supermarkets ask for feedback, good and bad..........can't criticise if you don't bring it to their attention.

I suppose if a dealership has 'shifts' it could perhaps be a failure to hand over correctly and the charge for work NOT done could, maybe simply be a stuff up .........that's how I'd approach the dealership......unless it's well know shiftiness.

It's not still April 1st, is it?

Hi Chaps Thank you for your replies I may not have been clear about the Greeks !! and thank you for pointing it out we all learn from our mistakes.

The Romans spoke Latin but the greeks spoke Latin only when Greece was part of the Roman Empire apart from all the different dialects of Greek at the same time so I think I will finish this subject !! :x by saying thank you all for reading my soap box article and''' Oilus Filterus Drainus Plugus Notus Replacedus''said Nero about his charriot. now that litle hand is deffo Roman in fact I think that is where it came from the' battling gladiators !!!'

I will contact Citizens Advice next week and see what they say. :nerd:

To put an end to this article this is what my final words on the subject are.

You need evidence not just the opinion of a bumbling amateur :nerd:  An inspection by a proffesional company :nerd: AA inspection cost £162-- RAC £99,-- independent ask for a quote

All a non starter from the cost.

Neither the AA or the RAC will remove any underbody panels etc on a vehicle inspection- so how they check for engine and oil and water leaks on the £250 top of the range check beats me.

Just as point of interest neither will check in car radio. cd, bluetooth, satnav voice control or anything  else 'Startreky' in a modern car, it appears to be just mechanical only.

Check out the websites if you want more info on cost and what you get for your money.

So thats it for a £2 sump plug and a £5 oil filter, forget it !!

That's annoying.

As for RAC and AA inspections not removing trays etc. that's a joke, don't they know how to use simple tools!

It's just a pity that when having "professional" work done you can't trust them and have to resort to marking things beforehand.

On a slightly different note. Wife just had her Mini "serviced". They didn't change the oil and filter because it was still inside the permitted mileage! Now I'm one for changing the oil more frequently than in the book so wasn't very happy. No mention that they weren't going to do it on the phone or when picking the car up, pretty poor really.

Now going to have to arrange an oil service at some point which will be out of sync. and will cost more on its own.

And I've mentioned before about booking the TT in for an early oil and filter change because of it's low mileage and infrequent use and their cam chain issues (heard that one before!). The woman on the service desk actually argued with me about having it done! I went elsewhere.

Some aspects of the car industry really makes your blood boil.
