Non-standard suspension fitting vs PCP/Lease deal

Featured Replies

First off, a quick hello to all from a new user on the site... I'm sure this is to be the first of many, hopefully in a good way!

Please bear with me on what at first glance may seem a fairly uneducated, dare I say 'noob' type question however, please bear with me, there is reasoning behind me asking what may to some appear a fairly stupid question with a simple response.

For some I'm probably touching on no go territory anyway and that's the area of modification.  I'm not talking in my opinion at least, excessive type mods, just a slight tweek to the standard spring setup on an Octavia vRS.

For me, the press shots provided by Skoda showed the stance of the vRS in a completely different light to what you actually get in reality and again, for me at least on a sports model, how it should have actually looked leaving the factory and akin to that of other VAG sport model ride heights. Opinion here is key!

So the question is has anyone had experience of making this minimal change to the car just after picking up a essential a brand new car with warranty?  I've seen a few threads on here with suspension changes carried out and I'm sure some of these cars must be on PCP or lease - was consent granted?  I also saw one user and I wish I could find the link say they actually got a lease deal where the dealer offered a suspension change in the deal and that's not just the OEM 15mm drop, these were Eibachs from memory that were more 30/35mm.  I dare say the lease agreement forbids changes etc but then I'm unsure as to how a dealer offered such a package to start.

Many thanks in advance.

On a PCP, you get the log book, you're the first owner. what's the problem?

In terms of Warranty, that's the risk you run, but I'm sure shocks are only covered for up to the first 6 months of Warranty anyway.

Hope this helps

Agree, eibachs fitted on the first week and put in a high flow filter on a PCP deal. I will probably keep the car at the end of the term anyway.....

I guess the issue is more to do with lease then where you're never the owner but i've just been reading the massive thread of people showing off their mk3's and stubbled across a post saying in 2014 the eibachs were apparently an option? I'm new to all things skoda so only going off what i've seen. If this isn't the case now albeit they were once a recognised optional, i dare say it's now a no go. May still risk the awkward silence from the sales guy and ask!

In terms of warranty, the shocks are only covered for a short time anyway, 6 months I think.

I've definitely seen posts where people have got the dealer to fit lowering springs so maybe that's what you've seen? I don't recall seeing them as a factory option.

My understanding of the end of a PCP agreement is that the car should be as it was delivered when returned. I guess this is the same as with a lease deal. I might be wrong though!!

You might be able to get permission from Skoda though :)

PS, I notice you are in Crewe - hello from a localish member :)

Thanks for the replies and hey. I'm on mobile and it doesn't seem to show where you're posting from on here!

I'm looking to order my vrs on saturday but some bits are still very much up in the air. The 184 diesel is all im sure of at the minute, colour and h/b or estate i'm still undecided on, as is the list of options!

I had sorted a good lease deal on a 3+23 basis but now interested at looking at pcp. The salesman is going to hate me!

I'm in Whitchurch, so not that far really.

You going to Robert Eardley in Crewe to order? I'm sure the salesman won't hate you if you place an order!

The 184 diesel is a good engine I think. Its what's in my VRS. I like it :) As for colour and body shape - mine is a rallye green estate.

I returned my PCP Fabia VRS with a Milltek Catback, Eibachs springs and a VWR filter. I did trade it in for the Octavia and not hand it back but the dealership wasn't really bothered.

Yes it will be Robert Eardley in Crewe. So far very accomodating without being over pushy by any means which is nice.

I'm tempted by the estate and probably in candy white or meteor grey with the folding mirror option, possibly canton and definitely the black package. Tempted to go for the plus but in my opinion the ride height with the 19's stock is just too much. Needs the eibach's to achieve what vw and audi seem to offer as standard.

I can live with no warranty on suspension as long as they don't start saying any such pcp is void and they want the balance of the payment in full because it's none standard!

Fair enough! Maybe dealerships aren't bothered :)

Glad the dealer are being good :)

I've seen a white with black pack plus and it looks good. Meteor grey is nice too. I'm biased but I prefer green :P

If you're going to put spring on anyway, does the standard height matter? I'd double check for your own peace of mind over whether the springs will cause an issue.

No but that's part of my issue. If i can get away with an eibach pro kit then i'd happily go for the plus package with the 19's which just seems to stop it looking akin to an Audi All Road :) if however they would have an issue with that i'd go for the 18's. To be honest the gap is probably the same but the larger alloys seem to throw a tad more on to the ride height. Not really trying to achieve anything more that the early skoda marketing shots like on here (4th/5th pic)

I agree with the difference in height from the press pictures.

Hopefully you can do the springs with no issues :)

My citigo went back in trade slightly modified.

As long as it's not overly noticeable they probably won't say anything.

Keep the standard suspension in the garage ready come hand back/trade in

My supplying dealer knows all about the mods I've done to my car, and they agree that it looks better than the factory item with regard to ride height and wheel spacers, (Eibach Pro springs and 15mm front/20mm rear spacers)

They're also aware of the K&N panel filter, DTUK tuning box, upper hatch spoiler and rear diffuser (which they also like).

However they also know that I intend to keep the car at the end of the PCP, I haven't made a claim for any warranty work that could be affected by any of it though!

  • 7 months later...

Reviving this thread - now have a set of Eibach springs ready to go on to the car when it arrives next week.

Anyone in the UK had the dealer fit springs?

OR

Anyone in the UK had lowering springs fitted and then had a warranty issue with shocks or related parts?
