no acceleration?..

Featured Replies

My car gets to 95-100mph ( tried this on private land..) and it won't go past it,, it has done in the past, its like the pedal to accelerate cuts out, the revs don't jump they just slowly decrease as if I'd taken my foot off accelerator.. but the car doesent cut out, no noises bangs etc no smoke, I wait a couple of seconds for it to drop about 5-10mph and boost kicks in again strong as ever and cuts out? Accelerating in lower gears still feels fine cause I thought it might be a boost leak but no obvious signs? Any ideas :/

This is an 07 Octavia vrs petrol.

Do these engines have a MAF sensor? cos that is a classic symptom of a failing MAF sensor, or blocked air filter.

lack of fuel.... dirty fuel filter meaning fuel can't be delivered fast enough?

What is possible cost of fixing either suggestion? Fairly cheap or?

I guess it's a faulty/broken MAF sensor. A lot of videos available on YouTube how to clean it. My car is facing the exact same problems as yours. I am trying to clean it tomorrow. Will post the results.

If the problem is in mentioned filters then it won't be expensive and even you can do it.  Anyway, your car needs them to be changed once in a while.

And it's not expensive.

Any value in checking if its a previous company car with a software top speed limiter on?

I've had it faster then 100 previously lol

If you clean the Maf, use electrical cleaner and don't touch the element with anything, it is fragile. Make sure it is fully dry before putting it back in.

Sounds typical of fuel filters as already mentioned.
