Off button for rear parking sensors?

Featured Replies

For those with rear parking sensors, is there a button to deactivate them on the dashboard? Both my old volvos had this so that when you had a towbar or bike rack fitted you could reverse without incessant beeping. But I haven't seen any pics of it in the superb? Help?

When towbar fitted the car will be coded to disable parking sensors, and rear fog light amongst other things, when the trailer/ caravan is plugged in.

I am not having mine coded as I only use the towbar for a bike rack - have done it this way on last couple of cars the recoding is unnecessary and saves me about £75! Hence hoping there is a button to disable the rear sensors when necessary?

There is a mute button on the screen when the sensors activate. You still get the visual proximity display but no sound. I don't think there's an option to switch them off completely.

So my next question is whether a fixed swan neck will affect the rear parking sensors when nothing is attached to it? Has anyone got one fitted and can confirm this? Otherwise rear parking sensors are abit pointless if they always go off.....!

Personally I would fit the OE one that swings up under the bumper when not in use.

Find someone with VCDS to code it and it will be a lot cheaper than £75! plus you can get other things coded at the same time.

I am pretty sure I have read in the adaptations that once the lightboard (etc) is plugged in the electric boot is also disabled

There's the parking sensor button to the left of the gear lever.

As soon as you engage reverse the parking sensors come on. Hit this button and it takes the screen to the last one you was on ie media and mutes the sensors

Indeed. Coming from the S2 where the same button was needed to switch ON the front sensors I totally overlooked it on the S3.

There's your on/off switch OP!

Thats assuming he has front parking sensors, alternatively I think you can switch off or mute them in the car settings through the infotainment.
