Nearly here but a last minute problem....what to do

Featured Replies

So my car pick up is Monday and I have a reg. All looking good if only the quote was the same as the finance documents I've just been sent.

Ordered car between Christmas and new year verbally but only got all quotes and docs sent out after New Year due to reduced working hours etc. I got my order form emailed out on 9th Jan. All good, no issues, my car engine, DSG, upfront was right, my options are right.

Today I'm sent a finance doc to print, sign and return etc, however, the upfront has gone up £540 and my monthly installments have increased by £2.12. This is apparently because the original quote was made before the Q1 2016 prices were made available.

I'm no mug and although I'm extremely excited about the new car I would walk away rather than pay the £540. Spoke to the dealer and they have agreed to send new documents with this amount deducted as cash back.

The £2.12 per month although it sounds negligible will work out over 35 payments as £75-00 +, allegedly the £2.12 can't be removed for whatever reason.

What are your thoughts? Is my agreement changing in any significant way with this cash back workaround and should I pay the the additional £2.12 pm?

I'm thinking of asking for flaps and mats for this unexpected additional amount.

PCH SE Business 36 months.

Advice welcome. :-)

My dealer did the same, gave me the extra upfront in cashback, filled the car up with fuel and threw in mats to cover the £1.50 a month extra charge.

No point walking away from it for the sake of £75, just ask for £75 off a service or accessories.

is it Lookers? Be nice to know if it is as I'll have a precedent to quote.

Is that because its PCH?

They charge the price current when the contract starts?

Nope sorry, heritage in Yeovil. Think it's fairly normal and they won't quibble over £75 when you could just walk away as its not the deal you agreed. The PCH terms change regularly so the dealers have to play with the upfront to reduce the monthly payments sometimes.

My SE Bus should be with me on Thursday (but not holding my breath) and also on a PCH.  It's coming from Lookers Stockport.

I ordered start of December and the finance docs were exactly as quoted.

There's plenty of fiddling goes on with these PCH deals. I had to pay £320 over the original quote for the deposit/first month payment but was given a cheque for that amount when I got the car so was technically £320 up for a couple of weeks until the first payment went out. Very odd way of doing things.

Interesting- when I ordered my SE Bus in January I was told that it was only available on lease not PCH- a number of articles I've read also say this.  Strange that you could get it on PCH....

I thought it was the other way round, only available on PCH not on PCP.

Isn't PCH a lease?

Yes it's personal contract hire which is a lease.

I'm collecting my SE Business Estate today which I ordered through Simpsons on PCH.

15k Per Annum. No Options.

£770 initial

23x £255

The documents came through at £823 initial and the monthlies are the same as quoted in December.

The supplying dealer is writing me a cheque for the increase in initial payment (which they did say could happen at the time of order. But it's never a massive difference)

Personally I don't see how the initial payment could have gone up so much. At least that bit is covered though. If they are giving you £540 back, then surely they can manage another £75 back on top.

We've agreed to having the 540 reimbursed and the 75 is coming by way of a full tank of diesel. Feel a bit let down to be honest, I didn't want to have to wait 16/17 weeks and then have to start negotiations again. Anyway, all sorted soon. Saw your pics today, I'm also getting brown SE business but in hatch. Yours looks great.
