What do I need for 300 bhp - Petrol VRS

Featured Replies

Hello, 1st post here. Currently driving a Mazda 3 MPS. Mods are a TIP, SRI and 2nd de-cat. So prob running about 270/280 bhp.

Im thinking about getting a petrol VRS, and to have about tha same level of performance I'll need about 290 to 300 bhp.

What do I need to buy to get up to this, and how much would these bits cost.

I assume a re-map will be required, how much are these?

With the MPS you could e-tune, presume you cant with the TFSIs?

Cheers. Ali.

To get 300bhp you will need a stage 3 remap. Best bet would be stage 2 so decat, Intake, intercooler, maybe upgraded HPFP optional full exhaust system r8 coil packs upgraded plugs and hopefully you clutch could handle stage 2. Stage 3 involves KO4 turbo, injectors and other bits and bobs. Stage 2 will see around 270-280bhp

bluefin do a simple stage 2, obvsiously less bhp gain but will still see 260bhp

all you need is a sport cat

What do I need for 300bhp?............................................Good brakes, Lol.

Maybe that's offtopic but is vRS version really needed if you change more or less everything? :)

For example, I got 2,0TDI Octavia with 140 hp. With a simple remap I get ~170 hp - as much as vRS got. I can't go further because I need to get better turbo (which vRS does have).

In this case you change turbo, injectors etc. Why buying common Octavia and changing everything wouldn't be smarter? Where is the difference between these versions (except the look) - brakes, suspension? Change that, anyway you will have saved...

I surely understand that if a person wants this then probably money isn't an issue but my idea was to find out - can I achieve the same with simple Octavia?

I don't think you get a 2.0 turbo petrol that is not a VRS?

Do brakes need upgraded at that power levels?

Decent pads would be ok, or BBK required?

Sorry guys, I've come from an acronym heavy MPS forum, not sure if your familiar with them all.

SRI - Short Ram Intake (filter and MAF housing pipework)

TIP - Turbo Inlet Pipe (Pipe from MAF to Turbo)

BBK - Big Brake Kit.

When you say sport cat, do you mean replace the 2nd cat with a race pipe (a de-cat) and get a down pipe with a sport cat (replacing the 1st cat).

Effectively going form two cats to one sports cat.

I assume the VRS has two cats as per the Mazda MPS?

it will cost alot of money to do all these mods ,have you looked at the seat leon cupra r  270 bhp stock over 300bhp on a stage 1 map and comes with big brembo brakes and a trick gearbox to handle the power .

My mk2 facelift TSI is running 265bhp on stage 1. Stage 2 with intake and sports cat will see it around 280-290. Is the one you are looking at tfsi / tsi?

Need the Octavian for boot space, the Leon won't be much bigger than my Mazda 3

Sorry , I'm new to VAG engines, what is the difference between a TFSI and a TSI. All I know is I need an Octavia that will be as fast my MPS.

Any help/advice would be appreciated. I've been driving Mazda's for the last 7 years, so know very little about the VAG brand.

The 2.0 tfsi is the older mk2 vrs petrol engine from 2006-2009 then a change over around 09 to tsi when the facelift came with drl,s

the tfsi is cambelt driven the newer tsi has a timing chain the chain tensioner has had lots of probs just search here to find out

it depends on how much you want to spend as high millage 09 face lift cars are becoming cheap now

Imo better off with later tsi from fl vrs, as said tensioners issue on early cars revised 3 times so if ur worried go for 12plate with latest one, tsi responds brilliantly to tuning stage 1 basic map will take you in region 250 but go for k04 conversion then suddenly jumps to 320ish

id concentrate on making the car driveable rather than chasing figures as 300bhp means nothing if you cant get the traction down or stop it.

at the end of the day whatever you do its just an old skoda.
