GTB Turbo Failure..........

Featured Replies

Had a good day at bedford autodrome yesterday, until this happened.......................

I suspected turbo failure then had to drive 155 miles home with no boost, stripped it down this morning to a mangled compressor wheel. It is not siezed and no excessive play, so I am suspecting some debris has somehow got through the s2000 filter - thoughts?

I don't believe that an S2000 filter would allow particulate matter through that could cause damage like that, something else must have happened, is the MAF intact?

I've actually just replied to this on your thread.

It does look like impact damage.

However my KKK and pd150 turbo looked similar and that was caused by over boosting, but hen I stripped it down I did have some play in the shaft too.

That was my initial thought - I am maffless also............

Looks like dirt etc has been hitting it to me also.

Check everything on the inlet side before the turbo,

Oil breather or catch can system possible, as said maf possibly?

I plan to hacksaw the filter up and see whats what. I am mafless too.....just arranged to send the turbo to xman i have stripped it all down today so its ready to go. Billet wheel this time!

At least you've got it in time before its exploded I guess.

Sad to hear !

Was this a 2260 or a 1756?

Slightly off topic but to prevent starting a new thread: does anyone know the size of the boost pipe end?

JRJG

Never mind - 55mm apparently
