I have a Yeti Tdi 2011 110 4x4

Last couple of winters I have swapped the tyres from the standard 225/50 ZR17 to Nokia winter tyres 225/50 R 17

I would like to get another set of wheel rims alloy/steel ? to mount the winter tyres on so that I can swap the wheels/tyres myself instead of paying someone £50.00 twice a year.

I do not know what wheel rims I need, is it in the book ? I cannot find where.

Any help or advice or any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Roy

Have a look in the Yeti Technical guides, under the thread started by The Plumber called Yeti Tyre and Wheel guide. All the info is in this thread.HTH

I understand 16" will permit the fitting of snow chains which might be an important factor also.

I sourced a suitable set of 16" steel wheels from the parts department at Rainworth Skoda. They also supplied a set of x4 16" winter tyres to match (205/55/16).

Jonathan (parts manager) is a great source of information and I've always found their prices to be very competitive (they beat all other quotes - Mytyres / Camskill etc).

well worth a call for advice etc.

Indeed so, which is why my Nokian winter tyres are 205/55R16s,  I haven't swapped them off yet: it's still below 7°C most mornings here, and it snowed on and off on Saturday.

I'm seriously thinking of keeping the Nokians on until they need replacing, then getting Michelin Cross Climates put on the 16" rims and keeping those on year-round.  The Nokians perform easily as well in the dry as the SP01s IMO.  A premium summer tyre probably would out-perform both in ideal conditions, but I don't think I get anywhere near the true limits of my current rubber as things stand, so the expense would be pointless.  And speaking of cost, the Cross Climates seem to be about 25% cheaper in 205/55R16 than they are in 225/50R17!

My grumpiness increases in direct proportion to the reduction in aspect ratio.

Hi,

I have a set of Skoda alloys for sale including winter tyres in the "Cars for sale" section (under Yeti Elegance for sale)

Please pm me if you require further details

I live in North Yorkshire and our winter often drags on into Apr/May. Last year I never changed from my winter tyres during summer and never noticed any difference. I guess they may wear out quicker due to softer rubber ? and I guess there may be slight disadvantages (braking/mpg) ? but we are of an age where we do not drive on the limit ! or anywhere near it.

Thanks everyone for your help.

The Yeti Tyre and Wheel guide that manxskoda pointed me towards is a great resource.

Thanks again.

If you know what you want these are worth a try. https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/my-account/ I bought 4 x 16" steel rims and Nokians for the winter of 2015 for £420 delivered. I then paid £40 for the tyres to be put onto the rims and balanced. They came from Germany and only took about 4 days, including a weekend.

Unless my memory fails me I bought my 4 Nokian winter tyres from these people. Best price available and quick delivery.

I bought 4 steel wheels and RIF trims from Skoda main dealer (Rainworth Skoda) and ordered Nokian winter tyres from Oponeo. In both cases prices were best I could find on-line. That was 3 years ago so I suggest you price wheels etc. on line to get the best deal.

Or buy a set of Michelin Cross Climate tyres and save the hassle of swapping wheels twice a year.

Hi

I don't want to start next topic so I am asking here.

Friend of mine wants to give me his old set of alloy wheels from passat b5 2002 16"

I would like to use them as my winter set to my octavia vrs mk2 2012 2.0tdi which has OEM wheels 18"

Will those 16" fit?

Yes - 16" wheels will fit over a mk2 vRS brakes, and those wheels are 5x112.  I think the offset for B5 wheels is ET37.  We ran a set of ET35 Audi wheels with 205/55/16 winter tyres on our Octavia vRS with no issues.  They'll fit fine.

Thank you for reply JulieD.

That's great, I will get them refurbished then chase some good deal for winter tyre I think it is right time for it.
