Sport suspension non VRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was ordered new Octavia, with 1.4 TSI engine and sport suspension. Dealer has not got Octavia with sport suspension in salon when I ordered mine.

So, I cannot try Octavia with sport suspension. Can someone tell me, who have Octavia which one is not VRS, but with sport suspension, is this same sport suspension like on VRS, or is it different? Seller tell me that Octavia with sport suspension is 15 mm lower than with common suspension.

Thx

I've been looking at that and yes the spec does say 15mm lower. The 4x4 is 15mm higher than standard. I'd go for the lower suspension. I've got the Vrs and handling is good, it's got standard 18" wheels which on bad roads shows the bumps etc, but it's not too bad. I was thinking if I went for the SE L I wouldn't go above 17" wheels

The 4x4 is 15mm higher than standard.

According to the manual the 4x4 (139mm groundclearance) is actually 1mm lower than the non 4x4(140mm). Unless you spec the bad road package.

But how strange that the sport suspension is 3mm lower than the vRS

Ok Gromle, I'll give you that☺. I'm into Octavia choices overload.

Maybe it's better to lower the car yourself?

Possible the different rear suspension on the VRS doesn't need the extra lowering?

Eat more pies. That'll do the trick.

JD52 - you got heated leather seats?

I have, in MY Black Magic with Pictoris wheels. An excellent choice. :)

But I don't have the Amundsen, front assist, colour maxidot, or leccy fold mirrors.

No, I decided that the number of times they would be needed wouldn't justify the cost

I think the 15mm you are thinking of is the Scout, the standard 4x4 is the same as the 2wd (give or take a mm)

I've got an SE-L on factory 18s and it runs pretty good. Not a huge diference to the 17s I run in the winter. There are a few other cars in the range that run the same rear setup as the VRS and that makes the biggest difference I think.

From what I have driven the cars that have the Multilink rear suspension and standard damping do quite well, it is a fairly good compromise between giving decent body control and being able to ride over most roads without being crashy.

Also from the other popular thread at the moment, don't underestimate the diference unsprung weight can make on how it takes bumps and rough roads. Lose a few Kg from the wheels and the suspension can react quicker absorbing the bumps better.

In answer to the OPs question the sport suspension on the 1.4TSi may be a bit stiffer and lowered to the same height but it will not change the torsion beam suspension to the Multilink on the VRS.

I think the 15mm you are thinking of is the Scout, the standard 4x4 is the same as the 2wd (give or take a mm)

The 15mm is the Bad Road option. The Scout is 30mm higher. I considered both, but went for the l&k instead.
