iTunes to SD card.

Featured Replies

As some of you may know, we now have a Citigo which we are very pleased with.

couple of questions if i may.

1, what size SD card can the PID take?

2, what is the easiest way to convert my music on iTunes so i can put it all on SD cards?

tried doing a seach but only seemed to bring up very old threads, just wondered if there was a more up to date way of proceeding?

Thanks

I believe 32GB is the maximum card size. No idea on the iTunes thing. Remember, it's configured to prevent copying, so could be a PITA.

Not sure what file types the Citigo can play, but copying the music to an SD card is straight forward.

Open File Explorer.

Then open:

C:/ users/ iTunes / media / music / [all your albums are here]

Drag and drop onto the SD card ;)

The player in the Golf happily plays the AAC files, so woukd have thought the Citigo will too, otherwise just covert to MP3's

File types the PID can play: MP3, WMA, OGG Vorbis, AAC, FLAC.

32GB card works fine on my Garmin PID. As do AAC files lifted directly from the iTunes music folder on my iMac. Note that my AAC files are ripped from my own CDs, not downloaded as DRM'ed music from the iTunes store. YMMV. ;)

I did this from iTunes.

You can convert all your songs in iTunes to MP3 then drag and drop onto an sd card. I've done this recently and works perfectly.

How did you do this please?

Why bother converting? Eelis has already confirmed the PID plays AAC files, so just drag & drop onto SD card from file explorer :)

Yep, the PID will play AAC files with no need for conversion.

My wife has just put a load of AAC music files on to a micro SD and it works on the PID.

I had to do it because the Swift at the time would only play MP3,s. Luckily I don't have this problem in the Lexus [emoji4]

It's not that you're thick,it's just something new to learn. You probably have skills and abilities that many here don't have.

Wow! I'm thick coz I carnt doo that :D

Thick are the respondents who have failed to answer the question of HOW the files are converted from iTunes into mp3s.

I'm thick coz I don't know.

Right I have now got a new SD card, do I need to format it first before putting the AAC files on it?

If it remember correctly, they are usually FAT32 by default and the PID works with that.

Format to FAT32 file system. :)

^^^^beat me to it :)

All sorted.

Only one slight problem, bought a normal sized SD card as opposed to a Micro SD.

Luckily had a Micro card on hand so used that.

Then lots of clicking and dragging later I have 28gb of music on the card, with a bit of space left for some new music in the future.

Use Mediamonkey to export your songs from your iPOD onto your SD card. iTUNES is very in favour of non piracy so difficult to actually get an album off of the iGIZMO.

I am trying to download my iTunes library to an SD card for my new Citigo and have read this thread. Still totally confused as I have no idea what a PID is or an AAC file or any of the others listed for that matter, nor how to convert iTunes to mp3. I have watched some Youtubes and tried dragging and dropping - worked apparently for a few files but when I tried SD card in the car message said "no readable files".  Are there any simple steps without jargon that anyone can either provide or point me to. Skoda dealer offered little help and the online manual is silent on this. Cannot drive an hgv either though I have had fun with a white van in the past.

The PID was a little satnav device designed for the car for models from 2012-2015, now replaced with the phone dock.

clipconverter might help you convert to mp3 if needs be.
