Vcds options for novice

Featured Replies

Hello all , I am thinking of buying vcds but I don't know where to start or what type I need? I have a l&k Irish spec with tragic sign recognition . What option are available to me to add if I have a copy of vcds? Lane assist , fatigue Alert (can't remember correct name) , rear assist? Or is their any thing else? Also if I enable these functions does it affect warranty?

I bought my VCDS, Ross Tech from Gendan in Wales.. Lots of very helpful telephone advice from them when I was trying to decide on whether to buy or not.

I also was able to find someone who was local with VCDS who very helpful in showing and explaining what does. Before you make a decision try to find a local with VCDS.

You should take a look at this thread: -

It would appear that some adaptations are not as straightforward as with previous models, Gizmo68 is a Superb 3 owner and has experiment quite a bit in this area.

You need one of the following (in order of price... cheapest 1st)

Micro-CAN (cannot be used on anything else that is not full CANBUS though)

HEX+CAN (the most versatile and will work on all VAG cars)

HEX-NET (a wireless device that can also be used on a smart phone, iPad etc - uses a WIFI connection)

There are several VCDS owners in Ireland... take a look in my signature.

Tks was looking on eBay but I had my doubts. Looks like 350 Euro for VCDS HEX+USB+CAN Interface would that be correct ?

They are around £270 for the HEX+CAN from the Ross-Tech distributers

My VIN has NP as the chassis and seems to not be compatible with micro-can according to https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCMC.html

Do I need to get the HEX-USB-Can version? Nearly 300 notes..

If it's a MKI Superb then yes, the MKII & MKIII are fine with Micro-CAN.

Thanks Gizmo - The ross tech site has a list and says any other car is not supported. I have a MKIII production date Aug 2015.

Micro-CAN works fine on S3. Have the same cable myself :)

Out of interest what is your chassis type (digits 7 and 8 on VIN)? Thanks!

(mine is NP)

NP as well.
