SatNav without radio on?

Featured Replies

Hi, Just been down to London using the SatNav on my Superb L&K with the columbus unit. First impressions are that it worked OK, but not sure whether the old TomTom was more user friendly?

One question though... It seems as though you can't have the SatNav on with the radio volume on? I would have liked to use the SatNav with the spoken instructions but without listening to the radio also. Is it me being 'senior'? am I missing something?

Sounds like you haven't got the volume level for the voice instructions turned up enough.

It will cut in, mute the radio (or at least turn it down), speak the instruction then turn the radio back on.

Is this not how you want it.

I actually wanted the radio off and just the SatNav on.

You can switch to media and then back to navigation.

OK.

Not sure whether muting the radio/media then still allows sat nav voice to come through?

Just tested.

As you know, media and Sat nav have there own volume. You can change you sat nav volume while a command is been spoken out, the easiest way is to navigate to Navigation on the Maxidot and press the right hand side steering wheel knurl wheel to repeat the last in instruction. While the instruction is been read out, use the head unit volume control to adjust the volume or the steering wheel volume button.

If you lower the media volume via the knob on the heat unit or via the steering wheel,  the Sat nav audio will play solo with no radion.

If you turn the head unit off.. You will lose all forms of audio and navigation.

Hope this helps.

Try clicking the left-hand thumbwheel on the steering wheel (which controls Columbus volume). That mutes the radio but I don't know whether it mutes the SatNav too.

That works, radio muted and sat nav continues. Tested it myself earlier
