Xenon side light replacement

Featured Replies

Merry Christmas, I've only had my car 3 days now and would like to change the side light bulbs for brighter aftermarket ones. Looking under the bonnet, the unit housing the bulbs looks very technical and I note in the owners manual, it is recommended that the Main Dealer change ALL bubs if Xenons are fitted. What's the truth in this ? How's it done by the owner ? :) Cheers. Jon.

Merry Christmas Jonny, and although I cant help you with your query, I can recommend halfrauds single LED replacement sidelights. No brighter, but they look good, and will compliment your Zenons nicely. White ones of course, I might add. The LED bulbs with 4 leds don't last very long and melt with extended use of main beam.

I got the laser blue lamps for mine. I haven't got xenons so the daylight effect of the laser blue lamps is close to the colour temp of the standard headlights. Only cost

Merry Xmas Jon!

Its impossible without taking the bumper off!!! I would like to do the same!! Is there an easy way. I doubt it!!

Chris, sems as though we'll have to stick to standard 'yellow' side lights. Bummer eh ?:rofl: Thanks to the rest of the guys for your ideas though,

I put xenon gas side bulbs in my car but it took me 1-2 hours and I had to take off battery and I have small hands but well worth it but the bulbs are blue really white light when on

It all depends on how hands on you are and do you have the balls to do it took me 2 days looking in engine bay before I the started job

If anyone HAS replaced the poor side light bulbs fitted to the XENON units, please post the instructions. I'm sure there's others who would like to know as well.

I got the dealer to do mine at the same time as fitting the uprated main beam bulbs. There's a guide to removing the front bumper on the Forge Motorsport site.

I'm sure Stu has posted some instructions before...

I have some uprated H7s and sidelight bulbs in the boot waiting to go in... Will pluck up the courage and do it when I'm free in daylight hours.

Having removed the front bumper a few times (hi Stu  ) it's not too bad to do with the right tools (which pretty much is a Txx IIRC, could be T6 or T12 but I can't remember of the top of my head sorry) it's not too bad to do. It's MUCH easier to do with two people however, I'd say one person may be able to do it but you'll strain yourself + the bumper may scratch the paintwork.
