Drove away with out giving me details..Why do that to themselves?

Featured Replies

Got woke up this afternoon after doing a night shift by a neighbor who told me someone had reversed into my car.

Went out bleary eyed to check damage and talk to the old guy that had hit it..

He was by my car rubbing the rear quarter  to remove his white paint from it....I told him all that rubbing isn't going to remove the dent  :D ..

He then turns round and says it wasn't him and my neighbor was wrong..

Another neighbor comes out and said she had seen it all and to check my other neighbors focus as she seen him hit it first also before reversing into mine..

Now I am taxi driver and prefer to not involve Insurance companies if at all possible so I tell the old guy that I will get an estimate for the 2 cars he has hit as it will probably turn out cheaper for him in the long run due to his excess

Mines will need dent taking out and a good polish other car will need a smart repair on bumper  :nerd: .

Guy looks at all  my neighbors and shakes his head  saying "It wasn't me... It wasn't me" I ask for his details as he was not interested in paying for damage and will need to go through insurance. He decides to jump in his car and I start to tell him he cant leave without giving me his details as required after an accident but he starts car and drives off narrowly missing another car.. :peek:
Checked MID to make sure he was Insured so alls good the now.

Now I have to  make a claim through my insurance and this old guy is going to get  a visit by Scotland's finest  :giggle:

Rant over........

What a complete tit!!!!

Hope he gets what he deserves.

We had a weird incident the other week while we had got a skip on the road outside our house..... We live on a cul-de-sac and a guy visiting a neighbour opposite drove down our road before turning around and then coming back up to park outside the house opposite.... Thing is he drove straight into the skip instead of parking up!!!!

His punto had the front drivers wing damaged along with the drivers door, the wing mirror was smashed off and the drivers window smashed. The skip (Only a midi skip but piled high with turf we had taken up from the front garden) wasn't damaged but it was moved from being parallel with the kerb to being a good couple of inches further away from the kurb at the end he hit it at as the whole skip had been swivelled slightly by him hitting it.

Anyway him and the neighbour tidied everything up and then the fella came around and spoke to the wife (I was working nights) apologising and saying that he had hit the skip and that it was all his own fault as he'd not seen the skip and the evening sun had been in his eyes and dazzled him!!!!

The thing is there are two things that trouble me.... One is like I said earlier he had already driven past it once before turning around and then hitting it on the way back as he was about to park up.... And the other is that if we hadn't have been doing the garden that week with the skip there at that time the mrs' Furby vRS would have been parked in that same spot so he'd have been dazzled by the sun and driven straight into her car instead!!!!

Sounds like the old guy was under the influence imho. Why else behave so oddly lol.

I witnessed something similar to the OP's incident, involving one of my neighbour's cars. Police got involved and prosecuted for failure to stop and failure to report iirc. Had to go to court as a witness, he got fines and costs totaling £1400 and a heap of points on his licence.

That does sound plausible.

Yep, I had one of these from the local posh knobs. She backed off her drive in a shiny black car as I was driving down the road in my old orange van.

First response was, she jumped out of her car and had a go at me saying it was all my fault for going too fast.

Second one was she never touched it. That ran out when I pointed out the orange paint transfer along her back bumper. I took picture of her trying to rub it off with a tissue

Third one was I'm rich and important, and have placed to be. go away peasant. So I blocked her gate with my van.

Fourth one was I'm rich and important, so I'll go sit in my house and let the dog out. That's fine, I'll sit in the cab.

I phoned the police, they weren't bothered. Her husband said he was getting his gun, I phoned the police, they weren't bothered.

She phoned the police and they came out. They were more bothered that my passenger had been for a **** in the bushes than dealing with what a commoner had phoned them for.

Eventually, when I told them I wasn't moving the van without her insurance details, and they could give me a parking ticket if they wanted, they went in and got her insurance details for me.

I went home, my insurance phoned her, she admitted everything and I made about £1500 out of it all.

Thing is, damage to my vehicle was pretty minimal. If she'd have said sorry, I'd have probably got over it on the spot and said don't worry about it.

Exactly my point..

The guy would of spent less than £200 to get both cars fixed and alls good.

Now he is going to court and fine and points and insurance excess and insurance next year for him will be mental..

Just doesn't make sense :notme:

As for DUI he never smelt of drink but his manner was weird

In my job I only class someone as "drunk" when they cant tell me where they live......

If he was the older end, he was probably off his tits on prescription meds.

Personally, I know when my meds are playing up, or when I've had to take a higher dose, so I don't drive.
