I have been driving my car for several years now dealing with German messages in the display and am finally getting tired of it   .  I have tried pushing every button available but can't seem to stumble onto a menu that will allow me to change the language to English.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you got access to VCDS?

if you have access to VCDS then you can change the language by the following

 

Select 46 - Central Convenience

 

and then Adaptation - 10

 

Channel 04

 

Use one of the following values

 

00001 German

 

00002 English

 

00003 French

 

00004 Italian

 

00005 Spanish

 

00006 Portuguese

 

00008 Czech

 

I take it the only way to change the language is to go into the ECS.  Unfortunately I don't have access to VCDS but will check around and see if I can find anybody with it.

To be fair, if you can't find anyone local with it, I'd just order a cheap clone VCDS cable from Aliexpress for £15.

 

On a mk1 Octavia you aren't going to run into any problems with a clone cable.
