So I was playing around on the Skoda site earlier, building a MK3 VRS and I noticed an £850 option for Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC). There's no description but a quick search suggests it's been an option on the MK7 Golf for some time and essentially gives you electronically adjustable dampers. I.e. You can set the car in comfort or sport and the dampers will be adjusted to suit.

Is this a new option only recently made available on the Octavia? I recall the Evo mag review of the VRS a while ago and they said:

"What this vRS desperately needs is the Adaptive Chassis Control set-up from the Golf GTI, because that system delivers excellent ride quality as well as great body control."

Does anyone have DCC on their Octavia VRS? And if so does it seem to make a difference? Reviews of the Golf seem very positive about the DCC option.

Not an option that I can see here in NZ - I wasn't aware that it was available at all (yet?) on the Octavia and was one of the key delineators between the Skoda and it's VW stable-mate.

Yes thats a new option.  I did want a car with this for comfort when on long boring motorways and sport on the twisty roads which is why I discounted the mk3 when replacing my mk3. 

 

Glad its got it at last as it seemed stupid that the non sport Superb had it but the VRS didn't,

I have it on my BM and love it, but jeeeez 850 quid! It's not worth it at that price, as above on a BM its just over 500. Standard on a Leon Cupra!

I have it on my R and highly recommend it, I use the Individual setting to suit my mood as well as the 3 standard settings  - Comfort for the cruise and motorway - Normal for the back roads and Sport for the track, or very smooth back roads

Retrofitted - possible, its been done and documented online on a VW.

 

Decent price - not a chance, like every other big option, you are better buying a car with it already on £850 for the option will seem like a bargain against the parts individually and the labour

Anyhow, for sensitive elements like this I would think twice before doing retrofit.

No jokes with suspension system, especially when it gets extra complicated like this. If something fails (e.g. one shock goes in frenzy mode) stability may be impaired and well...such car isn't a good place to be at higher speeds.

I would surely never use aftermarket system like one I linked above. Maybe fitting OEM isn't bad idea, but in overall calculation it may prove expensive compared to getting another, even used car, but factory fitted with DCC.

Have driven 3 x Leon Cupra 280 dsg with DCC, system works very nicely for me and covered by warranty too.​ Also looking at Bilstein B12 kit for my mk 2 Octavia vrs if I keep it, as has low mileage.

We have very recently bought a Golf with DCC & it does make a difference.

The car is too new to hoon around in sport mode just yet, but we prefer the comfort setting for town work & normal for highway driving.

:peek: I've suddenly decided that the vRS standard suspension is the best ever and couldn't possibly be improved if you tried, and in light of that I will be keeping it as is and enjoying it's perfection  :yes:

I have DCC on mine.

After driven several Petrol vRS's it feels like my Diesel vRS 4x4 is a bit harder on Sport mode than a suspension without it.

I mainly use Comfort setting though, better grip on the gravel...  :devil:

Driven a GTI with this on, works well. I would have prob spec'd it on my 230 if it had been available at the time, although i agree its a bit pricey.

Thinking of a FL 245 and the standard 19s have me thinking about DCC. How reliable is it?   

It's a must. Don't think twice.

For an additional year? This is crazy. Here is approx. 5 times less.

 

Doesn't matter, DCC is absolutely terrific gadget, don't miss opportunity. Find a dealer who has an equipped demo car, any VAG dealer is fine (Seat, VW) and feel for yourself. I drive daily two very much different cars, RS230 in comfort mode is one car, in sport completely another story.

It's an extra 2 years. Standard manufacturer warranty is 3 years in the UK.

Was standard here in Oz.   Car definitely handles more tidily in Sports mode, turns in better and holds a tighter line.  Don't think I've ever actually tried comfort mode.  Will give it a go on the way home from work today.

I'm sorry to be a little off topic, but my son owns a 1986 Nissan Bluebird Turbo that has electric adjustable dampers (DCC) And it was standard equipment 31 years ago!
