New to the Yeti

Featured Replies

Hello!

I picked up my new (to me) Yeti on saturday, and so far I love the car.

I had a couple of questions though, I noticed that there a several functions on the key fob, I did a quick google yesterday and found out about the SAFELOCK feature it keeps telling me to check when I switch off my car. So what else can it do? I realised yesterday that I could open all the windows using the key too, is there a cheat sheet for the keyfob functions?

Also I just noticed a minor chip in the windshield, and I was wondering whether I should get it sorted sooner rather than later? It's a heated windshield, and im not sure if repairs are likely to break the heated functionality? I couldn't get a picture, my phone wouldn't focus on it, but will try get one later today with a fancy camera.

Also does anyone have a good recommendation for a cleaning kit? Inside & out, I want to keep it shiny :D - It's quite the upgrade from my 2001 fabia

Look on the Briskoda Technical section under Styling Car Care for loads of data on keeping the car up to spec.

Try putting a coloured card behind the glass to add some contrast so the the auto focus can fine the chip. if the chip is not in a main area and very small it might not be a problem. They need to be a certain size to be fixable by the epoxy method.

I agree regarding the size of the chip, but...

Almost all comprehensive insurance policies now offer free windscreen repair.

A heated screen is about £300.

Take your pick, but I know which I would do.

BTW, a chip can weaken the integrity of the screen which could be an issue in a prang.

Hey, thanks for the responses guys, this is the chip in question:

The card is the size of a credit/debit card, if that helps for reference. Do you think it requires a repair / is it even big enough to be repaired?

Not sure they could repair that one a bit on the small size and not enough depth to get the resin to adhere to the glass.

For what it's worth I've got several little chips like that in my windscreen and when having a small crack fixed (with the epoxy) was told not to worry about them - they were too small to do a repair - nothing for the filler to get a hold onto apparently - and they wouldn't affect the integrity of the screen. The repair to the crack was free, a replacement screen would have been £70 with my insurance policy. Although the technician would have been happy to replace the windscreen if I'd insisted for me it was sensible to have the repair. It's the original screen so factory fitted in a nice clean environment by robots (probably) and doesn't leak. A replacement would be fitted on my drive and no matter how good the technician I'd be worried that there was always a chance it might leak having seen occasional reports of problems in the past.

So I'd say, stop worrying and enjoy driving - and all the new things you are going to find over the next 6 months (like the pen holder - car's due for it's first MOT at the end of the month and only found out it was there a couple of weeks ago!).

Ah wonderful, thanks for the tips guys. It is small, but I'm always going to over worry, especially since I only just purchased the car. You've put my mind at ease.

Also, THERES A PEN HOLDER?! Where? :o

Pen holder is on the inside of the glove compartment lid and on the right in there is a clip for cards.

There's a clip inside the glovebox lid in my car...... might differ by trim level though.

Don't think it does.

Do you not have this?
