Need some new tyres

Featured Replies

I'm going to be fitting some new 16" wheels to my Fabia soon. What do people on here generally rate as a good tyre ?.

205/45-16 are a very expensive size compared to my current 195/50-15 !! :thumbdwn:

I've thought about fitting 195/45-16 as they are much cheaper but I think they would look a bit small ?

I buy mail order and find a friendly garage willing to put them on.

Try these sites:

www.blackcircles.com

www.falkentyres.co.uk

I got 20k out of the falkens last time not bad really. Had a new pair at home ready when the wife took out the side wall. Nice touch is they will run flat so as not to damage the alloy. (Allowed her to dirve a mile or so before finally realising there was a problem :( )

I get mine from www.mytyres.co.uk or camskill and get a local garage to fit them.

I paid £55 for toyo t1r 215/40/16's.

TOYO Proxy T1-R

An excellent tyre, both in the dry and wet.

Not too bad price wise, £317 for a set of 4 fitted.

Last much longer than the T1-S, but with the same grip.

Have noticed the MPG has dropped slightly since fitting them - but i'd rather have the grip.

A cheaper alternative, which also grips well in the wet were the Vredestein Sportac 2's, these were about £60 a corner.

@ faboka_vrs, isn't a 215 tyre a bit wide for a 6.5J rim ?. That size seems cheaper than the 205/45's

I always buy my tyres from 'mytyres' and get my local place to fit them.

I'm probably looking at the Continental Sport Contact2 or the Uniroyal Rainsport1 which seems good value and is supposedly a very good tyre in the wet, hence the name !.

I got some Marshalls from a guy a work of £110 a pair, after I had a puncture.

Personally I think their better than the Michelin Primacy (£125each) that they came with.

Got Toyo Proxies 205 45 R16for xmas.

I've ended up going for some Continental Sport Contact2's in 205/45 size for £68 a tyre from mytyres.co.uk. Hopefully these will be a good choice.

Will post some pics up when I get the new wheels on.
