Lowering springs whilst still under warranty

Featured Replies

I would like to lower my car about 30mm but its only 6 months old. Has anyone already done this and what did the dealer say when you went in for your service. What springs are recommended that are not too harsh because i don`t want the ride any stiffer?

I have just done it - I actually bought the springs via the dealer and let them install it so that they would not complain.

There are really 2 options only: Eibach or H&R - H&R is a more aggressive lowering.

I went with Eibach and the ride seems better than OEM although lower.

Cool, how much was the springs and how much lower are they?

I had Eibachs fitted in the first week £368 and no increase to my insurance and no problem with the dealership. They have already done a couple of warranty fixes.

My last Skoda was lowered, exhaust and filter and they never bothered. They just did what warranty was needed and never bothered. That included engine misfires, EPC lights and lost of power. All fixed under warranty.

They only modification I wouldnt do in warranty is an engine remap.

I've fitted H&R springs, aftermarket alloys and it's been back to the dealers a couple of times for unrelated things. The dealer didn't even mention the modifications. Just got on with what was needed at the time.

Being unrelated then there  is no need for them to mention them.

Now if you were making a Warranty Claim on something that the Warranty Provider was to consider was related and contributed to the failure on the parts being claimed on that is a different thing, and can merit a discussion or even a dispute between you and the Warranty Provider,

it is not Dealership Employees that pay for parts.

Mine on H&R mate. Absolutely spot on. Even fully loaded with all the snowboarding gear, roof box, 2 adults and 2 kids In The back.

Oh and dealer has said nothing when it's been in for service and warrantee work. The fitter agreed it looked and rode better with the H&R's on than the standard VRS.
