LONDON CONGESTION CHARGE

Featured Replies

Apparently the CO2 emissions level is being reduced on 24 June? The story I read said the new level would be 75 gms CO2 ?

I checked on the TFL website and it said my car was still exempt yet I thought it had 98 gms CO2 emmissions?

This does not directly affect me as I never drive into London but I would be really ****ed off if I got an unexpected charge.

Can any of our resident experts clarify this one for me?

Congestion charge applies to all vehicles doesn't it? or are you talking about LEZ for commercial vehicles?

The joke is that the London Mayor that was has encouraged vehicles like this, and the UK Government join in the pretence of Green,

and there is the cheek to use the term 'Congestion Charge',  yet not discourage congestion and smaller / shorter / lighter vehicles

when passenger cars are in cities because they need to be.

Be interesting to see where Mitsubishi Motors will be going now after their disgrace in Japan and now controlling interesting bought by Nissan-Renault.

I would expect that MPG is actually quite poor once the electric system is exhausted ie 30-40 mpg ie quite un-green if actual fact when one looks at the true mpg system.

There are exemptions, namely cars or vans (not exceeding 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight) which emit 75g/km or less of CO2 and that meet the Euro 5 standard for air quality qualify for a 100% discount on the Congestion Charge.

More info for other exemptions and discounts can be found here: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/discounts-and-exemptions

This will help: http://www.which.co.uk/news/2013/04/congestion-charge-co2-threshold-drops-to-75g-km-318133/

It was 100g/km until July 2013 when it changed to 75g/km. However, they gave three years grace which is about to come to an end on the 24th.

Currently, your car is exempt, after the 24th, it won't be :)

Just don't drive anywhere, well, most places, within the M25 ring and your life will be much more serene. For the puposes of sanity, Gatport Airwick has an honorary location within the M25 despite geographically being outside it. My life, my rules.

Hopefully the Driver of the Smart car that closed Westminster Bridge because the Police 'Did not like the look of it', will be paying for any congestion he caused.

It was not a Electric Smart car that run out of charge was it?

Poor Toyota having a rough time of it as they have put their eggs in hybrid rather than pure electric and now the yen is so strong that does not help Japanese made cars.

Expect that Toyota are rapidly planning to set up the next European production site in France or Spain but will they produce something pure electic to enter the Ultra Low Emission Zones of big cities like London or campiagn to have their Hybrids/PHEVs etc given a further concession?
