Estate tailgate rattle and wind noise

Featured Replies

Is it possible to adjust the position of the tailgate catch, not the one on the actual door but boot floor inside the chrome trim?

I've noticed going over bumps I get a rattle from the boot, wind noise at higher speed and with boot shut there is a small amount of play when pulling boot up/down.

I'm getting no boot open warning but would like boot pulled in more when closed if you know what I mean!

Thanks

There are adjustable bump stops at either side of the tailgate, on the tailgate itself. Adjusting those out a little should solve your problem. Also check that the number plate isn't rattling.

Ahh I see the bump stops. The left hand one has the rubber pad missing which won't be helping.

To adjust them is it a matter of easing them out? Looks like they are a kind of serrated push fit?

Anyone know where I can get a parts list from so I can get the number for the rubber bumper?

Thanks

Just an update.

Have ordered a new rubber bump stop.

What I have done is adjusted the boot catch which is secured by two large star bolts under the chrome trim which runs along the end of the boot.

Loosened the two bolts and moved the catch down so when tailgate shut it needs to make a tighter seal to stay shut. It's pulled in more now so hopefully no more rattle.

Quite pleased with myself as I managed to refit the trim without breaking any of the clips!

One question though what's the hook and bungee for on the underside of the boot carpet?

Can't see the purpose of it.

Hook it onto the top edge of the boot opening to hold up the flap when you're getting out the spare.
