Cash For Crash Scam Attempt?

Featured Replies

Looks like it. I bet he had a small crack in his rear bumper and wanted it replaced. I noticed how he apologised in the way of flashing his hazard lights coz he didn't get away with it. What a pr1ck

Wow!! That driver needs reporting, no need for that driving.

Wow that's absolutely disgusting driving! kudos to your fast reactions!

Date on the footage 18/09/2014????

I can't see it. It's not a typical crap heap. Crash for cash is typically only about personal injury.

Could it be the over sensitive Front Assist kicking in and the driver not having any input on the matter?

My first though was front assist kicking in, followed by driver panicking and hitting the anchors. It was certainly very bad driving, but I doubt whether it was deliberate.

Front assist on the Octy II?

Front assist on the Octy II?

Ah, yep didn't spot that. Fair point! Ignore me...

Seems to take ages to get going again which would say to me that the driver is a bit flustered. But it's certainly a very strange manoeuvre.

Is it the OP's footage or just taken from Youtube?  It was put up in Sept 2014

No it's not my footage, just thought it was relevant as this is a Skoda VRS forum and the scammer was driving a Skoda VRS.

As someone else has pointed out, scammers usually use older cars so I'm guessing this is just someone who's never driven a car before and doesn't know their brake pedal from their accelerator.

If you want a classic cash-for-crash scenario, watch THIS

Hopefully it'll give everyone here a pointer as to what to watch out for.

They are out there.  Stay safe.
