Thinking of selling

Featured Replies

Well after 6 weeks and 700 miles with the Octavia VRS 220 dsg I am thinking of going back to an Audi S5. Don't get me wrong the car is a good car but it's just not me,it's just dependant on how much money I will end up losing on a 6 week old car.

If only you'd rejected it due to the Maxidot issue! :peek:

Many moons ago, I was looking to buy a Mercedes c class, when I read a review from Jeremy Clarkson about the Saab 9000, so I opted for that. Even whilst I was being shown around it on delivery, I knew I'd made a mistake. 4 weeks later, I p/ex'd for a c class 220 esprit...I lost approx 3k, which I thought was pretty good in the circumstances, but ended up with a car I loved..If you don't like your car, you will take a hit, but hey, it's your choice :-)

You've probably lost £3-£4 a mile. Expensive error

6 weeks and 700 miles lol I've had my second hand one for same time and covered 2000 miles. You've not exactly given it time to bond with it. But also at the same time I'm wondering why you would come from and S5 to an Octavia. That said I also use a A1 185 BHP DSG and I couldn't "live" with it. It's good fun to use for an hour or so. But can also grasp what you are saying.

Given you can buy a new one for £20.5k from motorpoint I am guessing a lot, unles of course you got it cheap to start with!

I think the term is a metric s£$t load of money.

I would assume the S5 isn't a car Audi struggle to shift either so you'll get caned on both ends.

Been there and done that, I've lost £6k on a LR Discovery 4 in 6 months of ownership!! :'(

If I don't like my Scout when I pick up on Friday it's tough as not going through that pain again.

Or for greater shock value, £460 a week ....

What do you mean "struggle to shift"?

Depends on their expectations of sales numbers. I'd say it was an extremely niche car based on sales. So in a way they are struggling to sell them, or only selling them to a very specific (small) demand as there aren't many keen to spent 40K+ on a german wagon, thats getting on for Jag F Type money to me !

Ignore the long term and focus on the cars registered more recently, very small numbers.

In fact smart minds think alike, check out the F type sales!

Well it appears there is a brand new S5 out in 2017 so I will be staying a bit longer whilst I wait.

Give the Audi dealer in Aberdeen a shout. They keep getting cancelled orders from the guys that work offshore who are getting paid off.

Well Skoda dealer I bought the car from only offered me 19k so was a touch short of what I was prepared to take so back to the drawing board for now.

Why not try and sell it private. Although skodas are good value at one end they depreciation is substantial when you try and shift it. Ok if you keep your car for 10 years not good if you change frequently. Im in the same boat.
