Any advice for a first time VRS owner

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum & new to Skoda. My motto is ..... 'If you're going to do it, then do it right'. I'm about to place an order tomorrow for the new Skoda Octivia VRS 2.0 diesel 184BHP (Hatch). I thought choosing the colour & wheels would be the hard part but the list of extras is brain racking

Hello Mal

The only advice I'd give is make sure diesel's the right choice for you, otherwise go for a 230.

I went from diesel back to petrol last August.  The 220 TSI is great, but the 230's better (IMO).

If you're going to do it do it right... get the petrol!

Such smooth performance and progress in the 2 Ltr TSI. Power delivery is so sublime. So nice to be out of a diesel after 5 years! I don't do anything like the miles to justify a diesel and I was lucky enough to get a very low mileage petrol vRS Octavia just at the right time.

Thanks Pilotguy & V6TDI for replying .... I appreciate that. I did give serious consideration to the petrol version but the lower road tax, cheaper price at the pump & better overall economy swung it for me. I currently drive a 2008 Golf GT (TDi) so I know what I have here.

Any advice u could offer on extras? I've opted for the better Canton sound system, sunset glass, black design package (to go with the Candy white exterior colour) & interior footwell lighting (front & rear). Anything else?

Forgot to mention that the 230 petrol is an extra €2,500 versus the diesel. I need to stay within budget. Otherwise it gets out of control

PS: Spare wheel (essential), Winter pack and heated seats for me next time.  I really miss heated seats  :'(

For me Kessy is a must now I've had it and smart link is great for google maps but don't think they should charge extra for this.

I got heated leather seats (winter pack), privacy glass, folding mirrors, smart link and kessy when I ordered mine.

One thing I wish I'd ordered is a colour maxi dot but I don't lose sleep over it.

I got a spare wheel free so glad I didn't spec it.

Well lads I'm glad to report that the order went in today, spec'd as follows:

Candy white colour

RS red seam interior

Simply clever pack (2 sided durable mat for the boot)

Canton sound system

Sunset glass

Gemini 18" anthracite wheels

Black design package (front grille & mirrors)

Interior light in footwell (front & rear)

Steel space saver wheel.

Included at no additional cost were:

Smart link system

3 part netting (for the boot) .... handy for footballs, etc

Mud flaps & floor mats.

I could have kept adding but there needs to be a cut off point. Saying that the 0% finance PCP deal is a big plus also. Only draw back is the waiting time ..... mid September.

Thanks to you for the great advice
