Would you believe my biased opinion?

OK then,

It has been a long time since I have driven a turbo car this smooth and rev happy. It drives much like a really potent normally aspirated car. The boost is very linear starting very low down and really torquey (thats FSi for you) and keeps pulling to pretty much the red line. There doesnt seem to be much of lag and not real drop off. This makes for a very nice easy drive, plenty of power for overtaking thats for sure. Had no problems threading through the early evening Milton Keynes traffic. Which brings me on nicely to the handling. Al I can say is wow, massive improvement over the previous vRS. The back end allways stays planted and never feels like it may step out on lift off. Ours does have the optional 18's (which are essential IMHO) but the set up seems to be better than the sport option. Its not quite as harsh as the sport option can be but still nice and firm.

Thats a quick rundown anyhow from someone who is obviously very impressed and quite biased. I would have one at the drop of the hat if I was in the situation to be looking for a new car. Better VFM than the Golf GTi and has the understated uber cool look I think.

Cant wait for our blue fully specced estate to come in :)

Nice write up Lummox :)

I'd nearly sign on the dotted line after reading that :D

Any pics of it on 18's ? Tried looking at various Skoda official pics on the net and the tires seems to have had manufacturers name and tire size airbrushed.

I was thinking about 18's, bring them on

Can't afford one but would really like to try and see a blue estate....

About all I have that kinda show wheels (stolen off a briskoda member ;) )

Glad to hear it -- I've specced mine with 18's as I fitted 18's to my old vRS - seamed daft not to for £300!

It's funny all the launch spec cars seem to be black with 18's -- shame they hadnt gone for different colours at random(within range obviously!)

I don't know if Skoda dealers get a choice of launch spec cars,we certainly do at Audi -- we were asked today to choose the spec for our launch S3 which is due at the end of the year!!

Some very sexy wheel choices and an interesting level of spec ;)

 I hope those pictures are shown the suspension blocks in!!!

If not will have to look at first mod even before I've collected it !!!

All the first batch of U.K cars are black with 18's, its what Skoda built for all dealer demos

Yeah they are, ive PDi'd one of them now and it has settled down a fair bit. They have four chocks on each side!

Thank god for that

Are they those horrid yellow plastic ones that you need double jointed fingers to get out !!;) -- Audi have gone mad on them -- we used to have 2 per side which were quite easy to get - but these new ones are a pain!!

The old vRS had the little yellow 'pacman' chocks as I called them.

The new one has long rubber finger type chocks that plug externally into the spring itself jamming it up to stop it compressing.

Anyone know when the diesel version is coming out?

(serious question BTW, Might be my next cab if I can live with the lack of space compared to the Superb, but then - I dont sit in the back so who cares  )

Havent heard anything at all official about the diesel from Skoda as yet.

Thank god for that

I was also hoping they were taken pre-removal, I was more interested in seeing how one will sit on 18's when settled :D .
