Move & Fun - Stuck on Skoda boot-up screen?

Featured Replies

Hi all, we picked up a 14 plate Citigo yesterday and very pleased we are with it too.

On the drive home, we noticed the sat-nav was a little clunky, i.e. it seemed to turn itself off on route, and I therefore fully charged it overnight with a view to updating this morning.

Lo and behold, when I connected to Fresh this morning, it told me the OS was out of date and that it would perform an update.  However, half-way through the download itself (i.e. it hadn't even started the update process) it came up with an error message, something about not being able to connect to the device.  Now, I can't even turn it on, as it gets stuck on the Skoda splash screen on boot-up.

Presumably there's some way I can do a hard reset of the device back to factory settings, and then re-connect to Fresh and update from there?

Any assistance gratefully received.

Thanks

Pete

push and hold the power button on the PID for about 30 seconds if I remember correct

Hi bluecoat1

I tried this but it does not work. Anybody have a clue about a hard reset? The earlier Navigon units had a tiny button to depress for a reset. Not so the newer Garmin.

if not so long as car is in warranty and the car spec included the PID it should be classed as part of the car and under warranty, several on here have had their PIDs replaced in year 2 and 3 in warranty

Regardless of whether the PID was part of the car's original spec they should sort it, They sold it with the PID and it should work properly.

I think there is a subtle difference in warranty if it was part of the model spec or bought as an accessory

if part of the model I think it carries the full 3 year warranty of the car it was bought with

if bought as an accessory after  the delivery of the car I think it only has a 1 year warranty

if spec'ed as an option as part of the order of a new car? not sure which it would come under I would assume the car as it was part of the order

this is my understanding from what I have seen, happy to be wrong

If he's bought the car from a dealer, regardless of whether there is outstanding manufacturer's warranty, the sale of goods act will come into play. If the car was sold as having the outstanding manufacturer's warranty on it, there would need to be something specifically written into the sales contract which would remove the extras fitted to the car from the warranty. If it's been sold as a Skoda approved car, the warranty will cover the whole vehicle unless there are specific exclusions.

The battery may not be holding charge anymore?

Battery replacement is super super simple on these. Me and Hyphons replaced his recently which cured many issues he was having with the unit.

Did you get this sorted?

Sorry for not updating you all. Yes I did manage to eventually update the PID - in the end it just randomly decided to update. We are still getting some issues though, and are seeing something particularly weird with the Bluetooth. The wife's iPhone works fine. In the car but loses sound when back in the house immediately after.

Thanks again for all the responses.

we always had issues with the wife's ipod, it would never pair correctly and play music via the PID, had issues with daughters apple devices as well

The blue tooth can take a short time to drop off the phone after leaving the car, my windows phone is still shows Bluetooth until the pid has powered down if it's still within range.

Does anyone on here know how to undertake the hard reset of the Garmin PID?
We have inherited the father-in-laws 2016 City-Go and the Garmin device is stuck in a boot loop

The PID had not been used for quite a while so I suspect it's battery is totally flat

If so how do you replace the battery within it?

Managed to get it to charge up from a usb cable connection to a laptop
BUT it is still stuck in a boot loop

Any one have any ideas?
