Holme Valley's Mountain Bike Challenge, run by the 1st Holme Valley (Holmfirth) Scout Group

 

Date : 11th September 2016

Location : Dunford Road, Hade Edge, Holmfirth, HD9 2QX

Description : Mountain Biking in the lovely Last Of The Summer Wine countryside. 3 routes available of varying length

Distance : 15 / 20 / 30 miles

Bike Suitability : Best suited to Mountain Bikes, although, cyclocross/hybrid bikes will be fine with off-road tyres fitted.

Cost : £17 online + fees, £22 on the day

 

I completed the long route in 2014 & it was a fantastic time out, lots of support from the Scout group, easy to follow routes & marshals en-route should you need them.

I'm doing Velothon Wales, Ride London and the Fat lads at the back sportive in Ilkley so far next year.  More to come I would think....

I attempted my first Everesting at the weekend. Target was 16 (not 26,that's the moon!) ascents of Gospel pass, near Hay Bluff. In the end I managed 10, which was around 18k ft and 104 miles in just under ten hours riding. Only a handful managed it, but involved riding through the night. I didn't fancy that, it was a technical descent with a strong gusting side wind.
