Diy 'black pack grill'

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if anyone has modded their chrome front grill black? I quite like the colour coded wing mirrors but fancy blacking the chrome surround on the grill.

A. is it easy to remove the chrome grill?

B. methods for blacking it? Spraying? Wrapping?

Thanks

To remove the grill intact you will have to remove the front bumper. I replaced mine with a black pack one from the dealer for around £40 which was cheaper than superskoda

You can rip them off if you are replacing with a different one but you do risk damaging the bumper.

I'm the same, wanted a black grille but not black mirrors.

Dropped the bumper off and changed it for a black one - I did wrap my last one but for the price it's just not worth the hassle

Cheers thank you

+1 for using a dealer. Think mine was 38 quid.

I did mine without taking the bumper off - if you don't mind breaking the chrome grille.

Search on this forum for more detail, but basically you remove the flat plastic trim around the bonnet catch (a few bolts), then start levering off the chrome grille surround with a screwdriver, being careful what you lever against. The chrome bits basically come off and break apart.

You need to have a good idea of where the clips are, so important to search this forum/internet 1st, to see where they are.

It's 150 if you get the dealer to fit. Sod that. I'll be doing it myself.
