What To Look For?

Featured Replies

Should be picking up a nearly new Fabia SEL on Friday for the missus from a main dealer, just wondering what I should be looking for to check the vehicle over.

Any and all information welcome

Thx in advance

Rich

Interior scratches. Mine came with them already installed! Also exterior. Shoe them to dealer and get him to figure out a solution before signing. My dealer said the part couldn't be replaced but could be repaired. When the repair guy said it couldn't be repaired, it shockingly became replaceable!

Hope this helps a bit. :)

Helps a lot mate, I will be obviously test drive, check over exterior and interior for scratches and damage etc and am not signing **** till im happy.

On a different note had a call from the salesman who told me I had two options to collect the car (Days and time etc) ......... we will see about that one, as a customer spending a considerable amount I will be attending when it suits me not the other way round. Is that wrong?

As you visually check, make sure any options are there, eg mats, mud flaps etc. Some dealers have been known to occasionally forget things they agreed to.

Regarding the time slots thing, this is to avoid clashes, and to ensure your salesman is on shift that day. But a choice of just two is very poor, maybe these were earliest two that were still free, would normally be plenty of choice later days.

Enjoy the new car.

Check the Tools in the Boot, and any parts, Locking Wheel Nut Socket , tweezer for Nut Caps, any cables etc that should be there in the car.

Open the bonnet and check when cold the level of the Coolant and Oil as the car is handed over from the PDI.

ASAP check all 4 tyre pressures and reset the TPMS.

The pressures should give an idea if the PDI was done correctly.

Later or sooner actually check you can undo all 20 wheel nuts incase of a puncture, and to see they were properly torqued at the PDI.

Dealers make a big deal about "connectivity" so if it has the Bolero headunit make sure it works with your Wife's phone.

Definitely look for minor scratches on the paintwork and listen out for squeaks and rattles which a few, including myself, have reported.

Enjoy the new car.

Check the Tools in the Boot, ....

Do you mean that lonely cheap screwdriver found there? :D

Thanks for all the input guys/gals really going to help as don't want to be stitched up on anything and have the nightmare of having to go back and forward to get stuff resolved.

Been confirmed car is in and will be picked up this afternoon Providing everything is above board.

Cant wait, after getting rid of my Octy vrs years ago and driving a poop corsa since until it was wrote off, going to be awsome

Have you gone for the 90 or 110 engine?

Just asking as I'm looking to change the wife's mk2 Fabia for a mk3 SEL this year and don't know whether to go for the 90 with the 5 speed box or the 110 with the six speed box.

I cant speak for the 110 as I haven't got one but we've just done a 1000 mile trip to the west highlands of Scotland in the 90 ( fabia sel ) .That's 4 adults with the car fully loaded and it handled it brilliantly.

We test dove both the 90 & 110, but went for the 110 6 speed. Glad we did.

I've been really impressed with my 90. Done 1000 miles or so now, engine is torquey and smooth. Handled a full car of rugby players without issue, although of course that did hamper performance a bit, as all of us are around the 90-100kg mark, so it was a bit like adding another half a Fabia! They only weigh 1,034kg! I honestly cannot fault the car from a mechanical point of view, the only thing that's annoying me is the lack of 1-touch windows.

Went for the 110, test drove both and the 90 was absolutely fine, just wanted the extra bit of oomph and the sixth gear for long trips.

It's not that much more for the 110 and its same tax and insurance bracket, worth the extra imo

Highly recommend the 110. The 6 gear is great for cruising and there isn't much in it price wise. :)
