Are there any options other than lodging a claim with my insurance company and paying a high excess?

Have you a spot repair or mobile chip repair service in your area? You may be able to get a spot repair doen, as the paint is still so new it shouldn't need blending.

So sorry Poczynek! I know the pain of damaging a brand new toy. Hope it's all fixed up and immaculate again before you know it.

Surely that would cost less or equal to your excess? You better of paying it out of your pocket and protect your no claim bonus.
