Passenger seat stuck?

Featured Replies

This may seem a dumb question but I just got the car and don't want to force anything, nor do I want to go to the garage for nothing. I've put the backrest of the passenger seat to the maximum incline, forcing nothing just to see how far it goes. But now it does not go back to vertical. Here is the link of the setup.

The lower level controls the backrest. But when I try to pull it it's going for 1-2 cm and it hits a limit. If I try to push it which I believe is what I should do to make it come back it doesn't move at all. I tried applying some force on the backrest, maybe to help it move but no success.

Thanks for any thoughts.

That set up is different to mine, however It looks like you have a spring loaded release lever? Have you tried to gently push the seatback down further, and at the same time operate the release lever, then while still operating the lever allow or pull the seatback up again?

Not seen this arrangement before, on both my Yeti's back support has been adjusted by a rotary wheel.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. The picture was of the passenger seat on a left hand drive car (me living in Luxembourg)

I went back to the car. After reading the manual it seems the lever can only be pulled forward. I tried pulling on the backrest while also pulling the lever without success. I played a lot with the chair sliding it forward and backward (read something similar on some audi forum) and in the end it released. But it went in forward fold position (I bought this option) and locked there. Again I played with the lever and in the end it actually worked by also applying the lumbar support, I guess it had enough force to push the seat up a few mm but enough to unlock it. So I tried angling the seat again and now it's working. I'm afraid to try to fold it again. I hope I will not regret the decision to buy this option, which came handy Saturday when carrying a 2m long board from Ikea. The whole mechanism feels like a cheap plastic, either too loose either too firm, you never know how much force to apply or where the limit is.

Fortunately the drivers seat has the rotary wheel.

Well at least you've got it back usable as a seat again!

Maybe next time you're passing the dealer you call in and  tell them it seems a bit "sticky" and ask them to try it...
