Weird Lambda Sensor fault

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a Skoda Fabia Estate 2003, 1.4mpi, 8v, 68 bhp, 6Y5, engine code AQW, and a few days ago I was blessed with a "check engine" light on the dashboard. Put the vag-com, scan, and here's what is says:

16524 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S2

             P0140 - 35-10 - No activity - Intermittent

16554 - Fuel Trim, Bank 1

           - P0170 - 35-00 - Malfunction

The weird part is that I REPLACED the Lambda sensor 1 month ago, and it was working fine till now, so I don't really understand. Does this model have 2 oxygen sensor ? (front and rear), as I can find rear O2 sensor looking online. Also I mention I was blessed (again) with a 5 wire Lambda sensor on this model (which cost double than the one with 4 wires). I suppose those 2 errors are related each other.

Any ideas what is going on ?

That is indeed a code for the rear sensor, not the front that you've already replaced.

Ignore the other code for now, replace the rear probe and clear the codes.

5 wire probe 1 (broadband)

4 wire probe 2 (plainer)

Hi
I have an old Fabia YH5 2001 1.4 16v.
Where are the front and rear Lambda sensors - got an image I can see?
My car has a very long story - too long to explain here and I am no expert.

Can you help?

Thank you in advance

Front one is in the exhaust manifold hiding under the heatshield, rear one is behind the main cat, right side of this picture:

Thank you very much indeed - appreciated.

That is what I call help & I would have done it same way - we think alike!

PS I previously & obviously meant 6Y5 and not YH5 - I do not know why I wrote that - anyway that sensor is not there on my car, I think it is under the front - I will have to remove the plastic cover, as I can now see a couple of cables [and a couple of plugs] - I noticed during the years quite different position of sensors, etc. of this 'unique' car [it is called Elegance] & I could not be happier with it.

Problem is now exhaust 'cover' and other bits on the wheels sides are rusting.

I wish I had time and a car elevator to do them myself - I love this car very much and I might have to replace it within the next year or so - cannot afford another one right now!

I think I know where it is now.

I have to go to the airport later, so I will do that another day - just to check I buy the right sensor + connector or I will have to rewire it myself [better with connector to avoid water getting in and short it !]
