Matt's 2.5t Mondeo

Featured Replies

Me again,

As per my Cat C Fiesta ST thread, I don't think this will get much interest, but that's OK.

I don't think much in the way of 'project' will happen but you never know.

I've recently acquired a Mk4 Mondeo 2.5t Titanium X Estate, as I have ended my Octavia VRS' PCP early.

The car is currently 9 years old (57 plate), and has 148,000 miles on the clock, but short of a few paintwork related issues you wouldn't know.

I've had it just over a week and it has been faultless, but I have spent the last day or two giving it a full service and change of brake discs and pads. It seems much happier now so that's good. The old brake discs were horrendous!

Anyway, to kick off here is a picture of how it is now:

Thanks,

Matt

I don't make project threads to be popular either, its good to look over and keep track of whats been done.

As it happens i've always sold my cars on this forum so guess its the best service history you can show anyone! :D

Good cars Mondeo's. Well spec'd model as well. Heated windscreen is a God send in winter.

This seems to be well spec'd, certainly more than I've had on a car before.

The heated windscreen will be awesome, very much enjoyed having one before.

Nice car, great engine. A tad thirsty when you use it properly though! I used to have a 2-litre Ecoboost (200bhp) and it was fantastic.

Stick up a few more photos too. Looks a nice colour

Yes it can get a little thirsty... So far I've averaged 31 mpg but I have been taking it steady.

I do like the car though, I think it has less wind and road noise than the mk3 Octy I had.

Wardy, I'll sort some more pictures for you :)

One of my favourite engines and in the Mondeo a bit of a sleeper as well.

Its the same slightly detuned engine as the one in the Focus ST225 isn't it?

They certainly are well specced as cars though!

Hope you are enjoying the car,

Yes it is the same engine as the Focus ST225, although as you say it is slightly detuned for tax band reasons.

The spec is awesome, got lots of things on it. Enjoying so far definitely. I like the fact it is a bit of a sleeper too, it even has the preface-lift rear bumper without exhaust cut outs!

Brilliant, similar to the S-Max down the page as well!

Just a big fan of that 5 Pot, brother had the ST225 and the sound it makes was intoxicating, along with how it drove.

I do love the Ford did drop it in some really random cars. It was a shame they didn't do a proper ST version though.

Yes, I've seen the S-Max thread! I like the idea of those too.

They do make a good noise, but they are pretty quiet in the Mondeo, it certainly doesn't shout about what's under the bonnet. I'm tempted to do something about it, but wouldn't want it to be over the top.

Ford do seem to do some strange combinations! I agree about the lack of a Mondeo ST being a shame.

Don't think I even knew this engine was offered in the Mondy! Definitely maximum sleeper points for that

Yep :) 216bhp in a Mondeo! What more could you want?

(Other than a Bluefin remap to 265bhp...)

Wardy: I've failed on my promise to post some more pictures today. My excuse - we're off on holiday tomorrow. So in the meantime, here are the pictures I stole from the eBay listing.

No worries mate - those look good.

Lovely colour, works well.

That chassis is so capable, same as the use in the SMAX, I much preferred the ride/handling of that compared to the Octavia's

Try 220+ from the 3.0 V6 in my last Mondeo 3 wagon.

Similar thirst to the 2.5T but a nicer sound-track.

I do miss that car..............
