Clean Licence - Test Passed (at 19) 19 years ago.

My two occasions of dealing with HM Constabulary:-

Waited on some Zig Zags 16 years ago. Given a lecture by a copper that if I didn't move I'd get 3 points (It was 22:00 - Morpeth - Very quiet).

Also was randomly breathalised 4 years ago - No Alcohol - No problem. But told to 'Drive slowly' - I wasn't speeding - I don't think?

But knowing my luck............................

Passed last August, been cought at 85 in a 70:O only had my car for a week!! 2.0 :D waiting for some decision either a speeding awareness program for 3hours with free refreshments:D!, or 3 points and a

Past my test Friday 13th August 2004.

So far ive never been _caught_ for speeding, never been pulled over, only wrote off one car, only learnt to slow down then. But it wasn't my fault ofc and the badger fled the scene of the accident.

Just out of interest, has anyone else rolled their car on their drive way?

After the 14? death of drivers under 18 in the last 12months in the Forest of Dean, ive completely changed my driving style and now. Slow and steady and alive wins the race.

been driving 13 years now and have only been caught once.

they sneakily hid in a day glo orange and yellow transit van on a bridge above a straight road on a sunny day.

ok so i admit it, i totally missed the van and was caught doing 89mph in a 70mph zone

my own stupid fault!!!

3 points and

oh yes,

there was the roundabout incident

mk1 escort

stripped out with rollage, big brakes, big wheels, and 2litre 16valve vauxhall engine

was "drifting" round a large roundabout, did about 10 laps and wore out the rear tyres. copper spend 2 hours chatting bout the car telling about the days he used to go rallying with his dad and how he loved my car.

he pointed out that it wasn't a good idea to be driving in this manner so i joined ~(he suggested) the local rallying club that he was a member of.

to be honest i was messing myself cos i thought he was gonna throw the book at me but he was a well decent bloke!!!

Passed my test 08/08/88 - stopped by a plod jumping out of bush's "decelerating from 56-44mph in a 30mph zone" 3 points & a fine I can't remember.

When I was 20 I was hard stopped on the A1 by 4 traffic cars -- that was an interesting afternoon -- kept me at the roadside for 15 minutes - whilst they checked out my story -- apparently I matched the desciption of a master car theif they were chasing :o

Damn near knocked the PC over as well!

Clean since then - touch wood!

I've had a total of 6 points. Both SP30's. First time I was caught by VASCAR and pulled over. Second time I was caught by a talivan. I consider myself fairly fortunate not to have more...

So, this is the 'tempting fate ' thread ...

Been driving 30 years got first ticket last september doing 54 in a 40 on quiet dual cabbageway by scamera van parked in lay-by .. I thought it was a 50 zone .... :( :( so 3 points and

Been driving 14 years - one SP30 in 1998 - 3 points and 40 quid fine.

It was five weeks after I got my 2.3 5 Cyl Audi 90 - I was doing 56 in a 40 on a straight road, saw the plod car, decided it was just parked up and didn't ease off much. Doh! I was caught by VASCAR and had the full back seat of the police car sarcastic lecture. And I had to produce my insurance too!

Apart from that no troubles since. I'll have to watch out in NZ though - 100km/h national limit and loads of police patrols and unmarked vans/vehicles. Not many cameras but they are un-signed and beige so hard to spot.

Oh there was the incident when I was 17 and decided to drive around Sainsbury's car park really fast at 1am for a laugh. Next thing there's blue lights flashing nearby. For some reason my instinct was to head for the exit - idiot!

They obviously thought I was a TWOCer - had me out of the car, producing licence, gave me a grilling (I was shtting myself by this point). Told me to b_gger off home and not do it again - phew!!

No points at present. Last points were gained around 14-15 years ago. 101.4mph (the number is imprinted on my brain) on an empty dual carriageway.

Somehow got away with 3pts,

SP60 about 6 weeks ago :thumbdwn:

£60 & 3 points.

just going back to dumb *** stories by the old bill. at 19 i had a black XR2, i was pulled over and had the car searched and was generally given a lot of crap because the police were looking for a RED XR2

boy was i mad!!!!!!

90-95 average on an empty M5 one evening back last spring... got pulled by a cop car with a calibrated speedo.

Fair cop I thought, 90 - 95 average in a 70...

Nope!! Try 90 - 95 average in a temporary 50!!

As I was unable to prove un-compliance with Chapter 8 Signing Regulations to show that the temporary 50 wasn't signed, I went to court with guilty plea to reduce sentance as much as possible.

Court wanted to give a 2-month ban (harsh!!), but due to that costing me my job, and that having a knock on effect to the public (I'm a traffic engineer - maintain traffic lights, CCTV, tunnel equipment etc etc - long list! And as I work in roadworks, I know the risks!!), I eventually got...

£300 fine reduced to £200 for early guilty plea

£43 court costs

And a day sitting in Telford Magistrates Court! (which is neither local to where I live (Cardiff), or where I was caught (M5 Jct 6ish)).
