Brake Shuddering

Blimey, I'd rather have to replace a console bush or TRE than fix a faulty ABS system.

Why don't you jack it up and whip the wheel off, either problem will be very obvious when you give it a wiggle, you'll be able to see where the knocking sound is coming from.

Really? Most ABS failures are a wheel sensor or the wiring to it.

I know Ken, the last ABS sensor I had to remove came out as a clump of fine copper wire with random plastic shrapnel attached to it.

However most ABS sensor faults do not make a knocking noise when holding the road wheel at quarter to three and applying lateral force:

As in back and forward or one way then the other? What should I be looking for? Will the engine need to be on?

EDIT: Just done this and there sounded like there was a knocking sound from front right wheel area

That was four days ago.

Expensive fixes?

Bushes are not expensive, but labour is. Plenty of "how to " on here. But on torn bush- it would have to be bad, mine failed on front consol bush couple of years ago, and even though it had a lot of play, I never noticed any shudder in brakes, but then I seldom, if ever brake hard. If origonal bush is as mine, it's a plastic sleeved rubber bush ( sort of plastic version of metalastic -- Plasticalstic ?)

As said- why not jack it up, stick it on axle stands with wheel off ground and check for horizontal & vertical play in steering /and knocks. Then remove wheel and check for ball joint play. I'd also check tyres for uneven wear.

Tyres are all good, got them with the alloys from @DanHarper on here. Car needs to go in and get the back shocks done tomorrow so will ask if he can look at the front wheel area for me.

Any update on the noise, reason for the noise.
