Seat Surgeons

Featured Replies

Hi Peeps,

For those of you that got Seat Surgeons to retrim your cars, please can you tell me how the leather is wearing, and whether any problems have surfaced since getting it fitted?

Cheers

Mine wasn't done by Seat Surgeons, but the covers probably came from the same source. After 15 months they haven't stretched or sagged, and the stitching is fine. The only slight problem is that the driver's seat is now shinier than the others (gets much more use).

I prefer Gliptone products for cleaning/conditioning the leather, which gets done ever 4 months or so.

HTH.

I dont have a retrim but I believe at least one has gone baggy. The same one had an issue with staining but that was due to a faulty item of clothing not retaining it's colour.

had mine done since november and they still look like new,

Had staining from a next coat after two weeks of having them fitted. The driver seat is also looking a little shiner. VRS badge has started to fray on drivers side but thats about it. Just need Paul to send me another drivers seat cover so I can sort it out. Have you guys been treating the leather with any conditioners? Paul told me not to use any but Im not so sure its a good idea?

Mines settled down a bit (i was the first to get the retrim from the SS) and doesnt look too bad at all now, almost like new. Just needs a good clean as its a little mucky

Bit of a coincidence this reading this now as an hour ago i was checking my seats over as i'm getting cheesed off with various rattles.

The pass front seat has got a couple of very slight creases (not too bad but as the seat isn't used much it shouldn't be like that), the plastic bottoms (underneath) on the rear seats are both cracked which must have happened when the recovering was done, and to be honest the finish on the edges is poor - some parts tucked away and other parts not

I remember when we went out in your car Robby there were a few "buzzing" type sounds coming from your passanger door cards, I have been experiencing the same problem but it has died down now and gone away.

I also agree with you on the quality of the finish on the edges, noticably on the top corners on the back of the front seats. I have looked at the pictures of VRStu's and it looks like his are the same.

If there is something wrong with your rear seats ie they are cracked then that is frankly unacceptable. Its maybe a bit late to do anything about it now, but there is a warranty that comes with the retrim (apparantly).

No problems with mine, very happy.

When I dropped my car off I asked them to tell me if any trim got broken as it's pretty cheap to buy and I would sooner replace it than be hunting around for rattles. None did.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am using the cleaner from www.croftgate.co.uk. (LC-03) this is the one SS were starting to use when i was there.

I also spoke to croftgate and on their advice i am using the leather cream (LC-04)every other month. TIP: i am using a sponge to apply it. The cream soaks into any cloth you try to apply it with.

cheers
