Visit To Jabba?

Featured Replies

Apologies if this topic has been covered before.

I am thinking about having my Octavia VRS re-mapped at Jabba, but I am concerned over the voiding the manufactures warranty.

When you have a new car re-mapped, does this void the manufactures warranty? I have asked the dealer I brought the car off, and they have said "as far as they are aware" the warranty is not affected, is this true?

It depends on your dealer mate,

Some dealers will turn a blind eye, some will not.

And welcome to Briskoda

Welcome to Briskoda!

It really depends on the dealer and how mod friendly they are. Some are, some arent etc.

Officially (and probably according to Skoda UK) the warranty would be voided.

Maybe your dealer is prepared to turn a blind eye to the mod, but i doubt you'd get something in writing from them.

(edited - Geoff got there first, but welcome anyway!)

I spoke to Skoda UK and their view is that the warranty is not voided. If the failure can be atributed to the MOD then the claim is rejected, otherwise you are OK.

Which is basically the stance of the dealer I spoke to.

That is really good news and Skoda's stance is entirely reasonable too! So what it boils down to is striking a good working relationship with your dealer based on mutual respect and trust and you should have no problems other than of your own making. (I've had a glass or 2 of Spatlese to celebrate Briskoda's birthday so hope that makes sense). :D

Another thing which has to be borne in mind is that some of the dealers are getting used to the idea of being either mod friendly or not as modding skodas is relatively recent. Like Denis said, it's a matter of building up a good relationship.

But do I send him a :xmas: card?
