dipped headlights symbol?

Can't believe this is still going. No matter how much people argue it's not going to change.

  • I have the same issue, it's just simply stupid

  • With the lights on Auto, the switch symbol lights up green when the lights are on.

  • I tend to have my touchscreen set to the navigation display, regardless of whether I am using it, for exactly this reason.   White background to map = lights off Black background to map = lights on

Which is all an indicator light will do as well, since it won't tell you if the bulbs are actually lit.

That's a bit like having a speedo that is lit from 0 to 35 mph but dark for the rest of the speed range.

if you are going to have symbols that are lit when selected you might as well have all of them like that.

Otherwise, why bother to light any of them?

Since that's all that all dash indicator lights do, then using that logic all dash indicator lights are pointless B)

Depends how they are set up. If you have a symbol that, if it fails to light, indicates something is wrong with whatever that symbol represents, then it is useful.

If the symbol is meant to light but doesn't, even though whatever it represents is actually working, then you know the symbol mechanism is at fault. Get it fixed.

To say why bother, well why do we have all the other indicators come on, when you first switch on, when you alter a function (e.g. I turn off my stop-start immediately after firing up. The yellow symbol lights up confirming that task is done and in action.)

You could say you don't need any instruments - yeah, well I guess I'm doing about 30 mph, maybe 35, who needs a speedo?

Actually, out of the many relatively useless functions available, I think the light symbols are useful - or would be if arranged to work sensibly!

I can see where you're coming from, but since the car manufacturers are not under any legal obligation to make the majority of the dash indicator lights work as you suggest then it simply ain't going to happen.

As they say on Dragons Den, I'm out.
