Retro-fit towbar for Estates

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I collect my new Superb estate on Thursday; I would have specced the factory towbar but as this was a 0-miles unreg car sitting in the showroom I didn't get the chance to do that (but at least I get my grubby mitts on the car quickly!).

They've pointed me at a local specialist who can fit Westfalia bars, who have had to go off and check availability for the MkIII.  While I wait for them to call back ... I see some folks have had detachable bars retro-fitted but Westfalia offer 'swing-away' bars as well, more like the factory option, does anyone know if they offer one for the MkIII?

Thanks!

Aaron

Have a look at PF Jones website who list most of the after market systems -inc Westphalia. I don't remember them offering a 'swing away' type though. The one I was looking at was a detachable swan neck from them.

I've been looking at the PF Jones site recently- an the only two types they list are the non detatchable, and the one which pushes up into it's socket- no swing away types from what I can see.

Thanks guys - I was vaguely hoping that perhaps the Westfalia RX system would be available for the Skoda III (https://www.westfalia-automotive.com/uk/products/towbars/retractable-towbars/) but yep, their own website only lists the detachable or fixed options :(

Which is a shame as I was really hoping to keep close to OE functionality.

PF Jones list a Bosal bar with rotating electrics (swing away) and a detachable bar for a lot less than I was quoted to fit the Westfalia, which was actually more than the OE option.. just have to decide if I can be bothered to fit a towbar myself :)

One question - it looks like the Westfalia has fixed electrics (always in view), is that an optical illusion, does anyone know, and they're actually 'swing down' electrics?
