Effects of buying an Audi?

Featured Replies

I'm considering replacing my Skoda 1.4 tsi with something a bit shorter, quieter on bad roads, and faster accelerating. (On a good surface the Octavia is great though, and I like the dsg box a lot apart from a bit of judder occasionally when moving off).

Are there any side effects to having an Audi? Maybe

* no-one will let you out at junctions?

* servicing is extortionate?

* people expect you to drive like an idiot?

Don't forget to drive really close to the car in front  :D

And stay glued to lane 3

Try and get one with indicators that work.

The indicators on mine don't work. Then again not much does yet!

Yours is different though... its from a generation before Audiot took over from bmw***ers ;)

But at least as you are changing your Skoda you won't have to rely on the heated rear window to keep your hands warm whilst pushing it along.

You'll have to fit the word "Audi" into every conversation you have from now on

Make sure that you wear your Audi branded gear. That way everyone will know you've got an Audi even at a distance when out on foot.

Remember that you MUST use front fog lights at all times, so that people know that you don't have a poverty spec version that you can't get front fogs for! ;)

Be prepared to pay an arm and a leg if you want any of the optional extra's such as: Indicators, mirrors or headlights as opposed to just sidelights.

Don't forget about driving along with you mobile phone to your ear...

Because it must be mighty difficult to hook up the hands free on a PCP'd povo spec Audi. :dull:

:D  To be fair I don't think that issue is related just to Audi's; a lot of other brand new vehicles seem to suffer the same problem!

Just like a lot of brand new vehicles are seen driving about with a light(s) out despite the all beeping and flashy lights from the dash to tell you  :punch:

Hmmmmm. :-|

I wish the grills on new Audi's didn't look so pointlessly aggressive.

you'll need a barge pole to beat away the girls wanting to get with you, at least that's what I found! In the end I sold the Audi and bought another Skoda as I was done with all the attention lol

Re post #1,

So what Audi are you looking at that is shorter & is quieter, is it a A1 or A3 you are looking at?

Wheels and tyres on either make all the difference.

Something not quite right with the DSG on your 1.4TSI it seems,

and remember a S-tronic in a Audi is a DSG anyway,  and a TFSI is the same as a TSI but you pay extra for the F.

Interiors are lovely and comfy except when they are not, and the centre box can be a PITA for fastening seatbelts.

& remember the doors on 3 doors are huge which is why so many Audi drivers park in disabled bays.

An oldie but goldie :D

Outlaws Audi A3 rattles like my old Clio to the point they're thinking about trying to hand it back. I think they've nae chance they've had it 2yr nearly.

Their previous A3 also rattled.

Numerous faults with both.

TBH if my 6yr old Accord didn't rattle no reason for a new A3 to do it.

IMHO BMW has pulled away from Audi in the quality stakes. Audi has let the bean counters have their way.

Thats cause they bought by lots of bean counters ;)

Or, Leased and returned before the first MOT in many cases.

VW Finance is King, and then Audi dealers want a second profit, but now 3 plus year old Audis are becoming quite a good buy if you want a keeper.

They are certainly not worth the price Audi Dealers are asking though.

I was hoping someone would say "don't worry, it's not that bad. Servicing is ok, etc...." but no....

I'd not set out to get an Audi. Ended up thinking about hybrids as I do lots of short journeys, so came across the A3 etron, though I don't think I'd get the money back in saved fuel.

Would slightly prefer something with higher seats to make it easier to get in and out for people with less mobility. (I think I've posted about this before)

Maybe Golf SV, BMW active tourer or an SUV.

I'm hoping mine is ok. The DSG is very smooth at least 95% of the time. Very occasionally I can feel a bit of a bump at very low speed. It's a late 59 plate that I've had for nearly 3 years now.

I'm finding since getting a very old Audi my wallet is very empty and I still can't drive anywhere.
