vRS 4x4 ... Configurator

Featured Replies

The vRS 4x4 seems to have disappeared from the configurator .... anyone know why?

Was hoping to order one soon, please don't tell me they have dropped it?!?

Still appears elsewhere on the website.

It's been dropped.

Oh well, bang goes that idea!

Still on the Irish and CZ configurators, so maybe a Skoda UK decision? Not that that helps the OP much. Sorry.

Probably because they only offered it with a diesel engine and it appeared more or less at the same time as the emissions debacle, so I suspect that those two killed it off.

If they'd done a petrol version with a 230 petrol engine instead of the diesel, I would have thought that would have sold rather well, as the extra 10bhp would have sort of balanced things against the extra weight of the 4x4 drive system.

That would actually have been the first vrs I really would like to have.

There's a nice granite combi on evil bay 3,226mls £25,500 looks to be fully loaded

I was sorely tempted

It would need more than the 10bhp to not feel short changed. Apart from the increase in kerb weight, you would be looking at around a 15-20% loss in power at the wheels due to drivetrain losses by sending it tot the rear wheels too.

If that were the case they would be 15-20% down on performance and economy. From both book figures and personal experience that is not the case. The latest Haldex systems are very effective at what they do

Any loss (more like 1-2%) is more than made up for by the increase in balance and grip in all but the most perfect of conditions. You use fewer front tyres too!

That's a good call actually. The 230 has been more popular on here but there seems to be a bit of moaning about the lack of updates and the build time.

Rather than have the same they have nipped it in the bud.... maybe it will reappear in the new year?

hope so i was really looking at ordering one next year and will be really disappointed if not available it could help me convince SWMBO into a superb sportline as a plan b, although don't need a car that size. The scout doesn't interest me and neither does anything from Bavaria.

Imagine the CEO's monday morning briefing.

Head of sales "The Octavia vRS 4X4 is selling beyond expectations, profits are up, it's a hit!"

Head of Marketing "Fantastic, our awareness and marketing worked well, and it's a great car"

CEO "Great news. We've made enough money, now pull it"

I smell BS.
