Leather or half leather seats.

Featured Replies

Hi, Last week I placed order for a new Skoda Octavia 1.4 SE L hatchback. I opted for full leather seats with front seat heaters. However I was concerned about the possibility of the leather sagging and creasing. Due to this I changed the spec, removing the full leather option going for the standard half leather instead.  Even now I am undecided. Any views on which seat coverings would be best, not to worried about additional cost implications. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

The alcantara can get very sweaty in the summer, whereas the leather is perforated in the full leather spec, so will breathe better.

Thanks for your response. Will probably revert to my original spec for Full leather with heated front seats.......my dealer will love me!!

My leather seats are holding up fine after two and a half years. The drivers seat does look more used than the rest, but not in bad shape.

If you have kids or eat in the car, leather will keep cleaner, but alcantara is less likely to stretch if you are planning on keeping it for a long time.

Depends whether kids are involved !  :D

Leather may sag a bit as it is not the best leather and a lot of it is plastic anyway but it is pretty wipe clean and if you treat it with some descent stuff on occasion that will go some way to making up for the leather quality. I think unless you are really careful the leather should look better over time than the alcantara.

6 years and 77,000 miles and the leather in my mk2 is still in great shape. Not sagging and barely creased. I do treat it regularly but I would say it's held up well.

My BMW was full leather and to be honest I missed having standard cloth, my vRS that I am soon to collect have half leather, and they felt awesome :)

Had heated leather in my last 3 cars and I don't think I would want to go back to cloth now.

They are a bit cold before the heated seats warm up and they do add time when cleaning the interior as cleaning/treating them keeps them in good nick, but they are worth it if you have kids

Thanks to all contributers.  Have now gone back to my original spec and will be getting the full leather seats.Fingers crossed that the drivers seat will still look good after a year or so.

leather coating two times a year will keep the leather fine for years.
