Buying a Roomster

Featured Replies

My first time in the Roomster forum as I own a Yeti.... But, my sister is interested in buying a 2008 1.6 petrol manual Roomster with 70k miles. Other than the usual for an old car, is there anything we should check on the car as known issues? I have read that the 1.6 petrol is possibly chain cam so potentially no issues with cam belts. Just wondering if there are any known issues we should specifically check please?

Cheers,

Paul

Get a diesel, I drove a petrol demo car and even in the short drive became sick to death of changing gear.

Aside from that, I would check for the usual Fabia problems; check the footwells front and back for wet carpets, constant misting will be the cabin filter and personally I would check for electrical gremlins if a non standard stereo is fitted.

Thanks for the tips. The reason for petrol is her very low mileage, but she needs something big enough to lug bikes around. Thanks

Indeed, this is a VAG problem - our Golf Plus has it.

Our 08 Roomster has had it's rear springs replaced due to quite bad corrosion, not sure how common but it would be worth looking at the springs.
